Not quite in a position to "flow." According to the CPP once all requirements are met your packet must still be approved by the UAL hiring committee before you will be offered a class date at UAL. You don't have to interview again, but you're not in a poolie just yet.

It seems the reason for this is a weak attempt at slowing down massive attrition. Combined ERJ/CRJ losses were almost 1,000 pilots for 2015. United knows that may become a problem at some point.

So this may keep senior guys around a little longer to see how their interview goes. And if it is mapped out along the same lines of the Commutair deal, it may bring more new hires our way.

But for anyone below maybe 500 on the list, the mid level CA/FOs... there is no way this makes anyone at that level (most of the list) stick around to wait and see what they get. Only way to achieve real staffing retention would be to interview everyone immediately, and tell you whether you're going or not as soon as possible.

What are the junior bases on the ERJ side of the house? EWR, IAD, ORD or IAH?

We no longer have an IAD base. Most junior would be EWR but to be honest you should be able to hold any base within about 6 months. This could change drastically once the United Interview program kicks in.

So that is for ASA/XJT combined? And is your total pilots still around 7,000? SW lost about 520 or so CA/FO for 2015 (about 14%) which would be the same for you guys if your total pilots is still 7K.

I think this is the first step to try keeping FO's from going to Virgin, Spirit, Atlas and other airlines that are snapping them up. Plus it may give the senior guys enough of a nudge to get everything updated and off the top of the list. But you have to get people in the door first and they seem to think this will help.

That is a combined loss for 2015 for both groups. We never had 7,000 pilots. It's always been around 4,400 pilots.

For the better, with the Jetblue and United pref interviews, it should help generate some movement from the top and with the new hire rates, generate in flux at the bottom.
