ASA MEC Chair election
Next week the reps elect MEC officers. Be sure and call your reps with advice as to who should be in the offices. One thing for sure its time for change. An IP who has not flown the line in over 15 years has no business being MEC chair. Lets look at his record. He destroyed any hope of a relationship with XJT and Management neither party said they can work with him. He let XJT slip the flow with XJT pilots in after our vote. There were more IP issues addressed in the LOA than there was for the line pilot. He pays himself and his Exec Admin 130 hours plus each month. He threatens reps with failing their AQP if he doesn't get his way. The reps say he has been known to be on conference calls drunk. He regularly leaks info to JB to post on the web. XJT caught him red handed. There has got to be someone better out there. Those are the facts. The rumor is he works 10 am till 3 pm 3 days a week on average. Why are we paying this guy 150,000 a year?

As a MEC member I am schocked by your accusations against Tony. They are all completely without merit. Where do you get your information? How did Tony allow the flow to slip? How could he control it? Do you actually think he had the power to stop it? As for all of the IP issues in LOA 15 - I did those, not Tony. If you look at the IP section of the contract we have no work rules. The last time the IPs were addressed in any negotiations was the 2007 contract. As instructors we do not get the benefit of PBS (or vacation low). In LOA 14 we did not get anything. So I, again not Tony, got in front of the company for the LOA 15 negotiations. All of the "gains" that trouble you so much, are just current practice for the most part. I negotiated on the last two days of negotiations, so none of what the IPs got came at the expense of any line pilot in any way shape or form. If these work rules bother you that much, at least blame the right person before you waste a bunch of time on the witch hunt.
As for the rest of your false claims they are just that. False. Wild claims made by a newly created profile that doesn't even have a real name attached; yeah that's a reliable source. It looks like someone running against Tony, or one of their friends is smearing anything and everything they can.
So please don't even find it necessary to reply to this post until you grow up enough to stop hiding behind a keyboard.

With that said, I think it's time for some fresh blood in that good old boys club known as the ASA MEC. We have very little to show for the last five years and a very uncertain future. No one seems to be at the helm.

Tony may have mishandled the merger, and destroyed our relationship with the legacy XJT MEC, but your other accusations are asinine, ridiculous, and way out of line. You need to apologize, and then crawl back under the rock you came from.

You know how Ed. But I'm not here to attack. Tony hasn't been the best MEC chairman we've ever had, but he's definitely never threatened anyone, showed up drunk, nor personally abused FPL. Whoever leveled serious charges like that needs to identify them self and show proof before proceeding.

As to the MEC Chair. Are you looking for the Utopia? As in politics you will never find it. The problem with humans is they want everything and everyone to be perfect but fail to accept people for who they are. Just as with life some things go great and some don't.
As to the "best" MEC chairman, I doubt you've been around long enough to make that claim. We've had 10 that I can count.
