Reasons to go to Skywest

If I wanted a M-F job I could have accepted jobs in engineering or meteorology where I'd be making 3X the money. Again, its all relative.
I have friends at Skywest and they like it there. They had 100 people below them in two months...but then again they were around what, 2200 of 2400 themselves? While I know Skywest is very successful and growing, 8 month upgrades to the Bro and 24 month upgrades to the jet aren't going to happen forever. Will they exist 8 and 24 months from now?
I applied to Skywest and never got an interview despite meeting their minimums. At the time they were 19.06/hr first year, no pay or hotel during training, and you had to buy your initial set of Jepps. If offered a class I honestly do not know if I would have accepted or not because even as a young person I have bills to pay and cannot be without income that long. Now they provide uniforms, a hotel during training, don't make you spend money for Jepps and I believe pay you as well.

You don't have a degree, you interviewed at SKW and got rejected (probably at least twice). You interviewed at a few other regionals, also rejected. Now you fly night cargo in an ASEL. Right so far?
Now let's set the record straight (we are talking about SkyWest here, not mesa):
The hourly rate is better than average.
The work rules are very good, and combined with performance bonuses provide very good compensation compared to most of the regional industry.
They have an informal policy, and are very reasonable. You get positive space while in training.
No, you get guarantee just like everywhere else (guarantee is lower for new-hires in training)
New hires only
Lies, all lies
I like it that way, it minimizes the number of morons that I have to be exposed to at work.
Sorry it didn't work out for you, I realize that not everyone makes it in this industry but don't come on here and confuse all the newbies with totally bogus info. It's not nice.

Do yourself a favor and don't go there! Before all you low time guys just jump at the chance to work for the first regional who calls you, do your research! The people that work there don't even realize how bad they have it but the work rules and pay are not good! People may argue that the pay scale is slightly higher than most but it is just a facade! that is how they fool you! they don't have duty or trip rigs which makes a huge difference in your paycheck. they have a bidding system that only benefits the senior people in the company. High priced benefits for your family, No trip touching when it comes to vacation, unless you plan on moving they have no commuter clause, reduced pay in training, double occupancy in hotels, pay for your own jepps. Yeah guys, it really sounds like a great place to work! I heard their INTVW is like five stages long! Come on, do these recruiters realize that your interviewing for a $19/hr regional job and not a major!. No union protection, so plan on being fired at any moment with no say in it! Plus, with how short they are on people plan on being junior-manned nonstop! Don't be drawn in by the shiny looking jet! I guarantee you'll live to regret it later!!!! You've worked way too hard to get to this point, don't sell yourself out to a company that will do whatever it takes to pay you less! Hold out for a company that does'nt keep lowering the standard like i.e. xjt, comair, awac, or horizon!

If not 17/18, definately 15/16. Still more than 8 days off (or less) that you'd be getting at Amflight.
you took the time to look all that up???? wow! Again, what regional is getting 17-18 days off a month without 20+ years seniority? Relax Brah, all I am trying to say is wake up and take another big swig of that koolaid that you've been drinking and realize the airlines are not what they are cracked up to be anymore!! the time of 18 days off/month and $250,000/year salaries are over. Unless you are at SWA, every mainline pilot that I have talked to says get out now while you still can. What is your plan B? Go back to school for something else. They complain about the exact same things that we at the regional level do, pay, schedules, QOL, retirement, you name it! So when United calls you next week for your big 747 interview, just remember it is going to be the same thing you've been doing except starting over at the bottom on reserve. Also, for your information, you can make alot more than $40,000/yr at AMF if you want to! until next time!
Piston, I have neither the time or the inclination to continue discussing this with you
Seriously, if you can't see how flawed your post is, then we are wasting our time.
Pilots will always complain. Even in the golden times, they still complained. All the mainline pilots you talk about complaining, still make 50-100-200% more than you ever will at Amflight. You talk like you want to spend your entire life at Amflight. If not, where do you want to go? Franctionals/corporate? Regionals will probably get you there faster than Amflight.
If you hate the current state of the industry so much, and desire weekends and holidays off, with a tremendous job security, why not get a government job? Maybe working for USPS....
If you want to make more money at Amflight you work 6 days a week. 4 days off a month, GREAT QOL!
By the way I know 2 XTJ FOs who regularly get 17/18 days off a month...and have 2 years seniority.

The piston is a troll! Why does everyone who writes posts like his think Skywest only has CRJ's and thats all people want to fly? I considered going to AMFlight to build turbine PIC but a friend of mine who is there now said he'd go the regional route if he had to do it all over again.
