There is a good chance that at some point you will insist on keeping your dollar and that will be the end of your career.
"TSA pay is 3 dollars more than Skywest at the CA rate. Before somebody says it, yes I know pay isn't everything but it's an important factor for many. I know there's somewhat of a consensus on here that no regional is worth commuting for if you have a choice of being home based."
When you fly a line and get 80 ours of credit at TSA, there is a good chance that line would bring in 90 or 95 hours at Skywest. The $3 goes away very quickly in an apple/apple comparison. I didn't commute but wish I had commuted if I needed to to get away from Hulas.
You are better off waiting than going to work for Gojet. TSA is better but not a lot. I feel sorry for everyone there.

Yes, he is that evil. He resents every dollar he has to pay you and he does not mind breaking the law to cheat you out of it!

It's been beaten to death...EVERY regional has things we would ALL like to change. Some have this, some have that. NONE of them can be looked at as having the perfect life for a pilot. Namely because we are all different individuals and value different things. So to tell someone why they are working, or looking at working at, a total ****hole company while working at (and most likely complaining about very same types of things) another company makes less sense every time I read something of the sort on hear.
I worked for TSA 12 years ago, and had a good time. I enjoyed all the people I encountered and was treated well. It is what you make it, no matter where you work. I almost returned to TSA a couple months ago, and I would have in a second if I lived in STL or any of their bases. I have to commute no matter what and I went with another carrier that has a better opportunity for someone in my position.
I don't know you but I would bet my paycheck (go ahead with the paycheck jokes) that you would do just fine at TSA and have a good QOL while waiting for your next opportunity for bigger and better.
Good luck!

GoJet changes its mind about bases like any other regional but, in my experience they don't do business well. You could end up in STL but for what I understand it has been a shrinking base. If income isn't an issue I would commute to a company that treats their employees well and offer better schedules. This will make up for the commute. At least this is what I have found in my experience.

I've been at TSA for awhile in STL. Upgraded faster than all my friends at other "better" airlines. As an FO, I averaged 100 credit hours and between 13-14 days off and that was with 150% open time. Now it's at 200% for FOs and I know some are crediting well north of 100. As a captain, STL is not a great base because it's so incredibly senior. If you don't mind sitting reserve and not really being used, being a captain in STL is not bad at all.
TSA has its problems for sure but taking to my other friends at other companies, they have theirs as well.

I know about skywest soft time credits. TSA is working on something that will increase soft time credits for line holders that is associated with PBS implementation. The association even recently said it may come with increased pay scales as well. So that 3 dollars difference may end up 5 or 6. I really can't believe I'm having this discussion with you on commuting versus staying in base. It's really a no brainer.
And there is a huge difference between Gojet and TSA. But in either case, if the choice is between you getting the dollar and hulas the dollar will not go to you. There are many guys on the site who have only been to one airline and don't know how to compare. Go to Skywest, they will probably have a STL base by the time you get out of training.

Hulas is a pro at making people think they are going to give money without being forced to. After all, the rumor of the pay increase is as effective as actually giving a raise, so why give a raise. At Gojet they started talking about a 9 dollar an hour raise to extend the contract even before it was up. Four years later they got a new contract with only a 7% raise, about half of the rumor amount.
