Thanks for the info SAAB, DME. I do want to say that I have learned many things in college about aviation that I probably wouldn't have known otherwise. So I personally feel it is an advantage.
Also, I went to a Lockheed Martin hiring fair (before I got into aviation). They had a position open that I had the experience to do. Regardless of my experience, they would not hire anyone for that position unless they had a degree. Period. It seems alot of companies are that way. Therefore, I would think that airlines would prefer someone with a degree and would hire someone with less flight time if they have a degree since they would be more qualified than someone who didnt have a degree. I guess I am wrong.

With that being said, just because you have 500TT and a degree makes you NO MORE qualified with a H.S. Grad with 800TT.

Colgan is great for the people who are instructing and want to get out quick. There is a reason they call you back the same day you apply even if your close to mins... they want you to interview with them and make a rush decision to go with them or run the gauntlet of harder interviews with better companies. People like the safe bet. I dont think i could fly a saab to three or so airports and be happy or content. yeah i might be home every night but wheres the flying? hey whatever floats your boat. i fly the erj and people still make "wow this is a small plane" comment and i dont think i could do the whole 1900 thing where i have to be FA and give the brief... no thanks.
and whoever was saying "colgan does NOT work you to the bone" is on something. colgan treats its employees like indentured slaves and they are relentless. sitting down with a saab fo awhile back (for colgan) he had to explain to the ****y scheduler why he would be illegal to pick up a flight that day... i am not joking. Hey it is what it is but i would think twice about going there and potentially risk getting nailed by the FAA for something. better places are hiring at the same min's and their work rules are better. go there if you want a job pronto and cant wait.

I agree although I will say this...................... The CAs I flew with at COLGAN (ALB)were more fun that the CA's I have flown with ere at EXPRESSJET. I think thats becuase I am picking up the open time trips, and I bet most of the trips were dropped in the first place becuase of thr CA's. There have only been like 3 or 4 that were awesome to fly with here at EXPRESS. The CA's here arent bad just some of them have no personalities as at all................
Theres this dude at COLGAN I think his initials are D. S. oh man he thinks hes is like gos gift to aviation, such a dork watch out for him, anybody else at COLGAN fly with this dork PM if ya have nay guesses
