Pay bump in 2018
#21
I think that pay increases will come to the WOs by the summer. There are some other things in motion behind the scenes that are driving this.

I hope you’re right, but I’m not getting my hopes up. We had over 100 guys start class this month at ENY and from what I understand you guys are filling classes and PDT has their hands full with max training capacity. Time will tell.

Combined with Captain attrition from the top of the seniority list and management is worried.

The largest issue facing the AA WOs at the moment is a captain shortage. They’ve done a great job recruiting low time hours folks/RTP/cadet program pilots recently but those take 24-36 months to turn into captains. Prior airline pilot hiring took a hit when Endeavors new TA was announced.

Now Envoy has this “High Value Aviator” program and are offering $45k. For what?! So I can waste my life commuting to reserve and airport standby? F That! If we are such High Value aviators then you would think they would want us to fly.
If the wholly owners need captains, the need to revise their reserve rules and then maybe they wouldn’t have to cram upgrades down people’s throats. If they want me then I’m gonna need that $45k and a line at least 10 months out of the year.

Now they lowered minimums for the upgrade.. it's going to get interesting... the regionals are going to just price themselves right out of business. Bandaids are going to be just too expensive.

You can upgrade now at 2000 total time hours and 1000 hours 121 time if you have 250 hours PDT time. This allows allot of the military and R-ATP guys to upgrade earlier. About 8 months early.
Problem is, military guys are going to start to get scooped up now, especially when they upgrade. Management and AA is aware of this situation.

That’s because of the terrible reserve rules. At least at PSA. I was a street captain at PSA and I left because it was a horrible qol commuting to airport standby. I came to GoJet as a street captain where all reserve is initially 12hr call out, they convert 2 blocks of days to 2hr call out, and rarely use airport reserve (I’ve never had it) The only reason I haven’t left for Endeavor is because I don’t want to go to a pure short call reserve schedule again.

I’ve read here, aero crew news, made my own spreadsheets from both to try and compare; I still have ZERO idea WTF anyone’s contract means (in english,) and how that conveys to QOL.
I read yesterday that at SkyWest you can credit *less* than you block; PSA has SAP....except now it’s months/years before you can use it; trip/duty rigs are complete gibberish; and for every opinion on reserve rules at any given airline, there are an equal number of exactly opposite opinions. (Just examples of roadblocks to understanding that I’ve run into in the past 48 hours.)
I couldn’t honesty tell you from reading here why Endeavor would be any better than Mesa, other than $50/hr and people use a lot of frowny face emojis with Mesa (and their historical leadership has been awful.)
