with chq going away, up grade times are 8 years plus, vs 11 months at mesa. most fos here at republic are quitting after a year to go to mesa or skywest. save your time and go there first.

Skywest is heavily invested in 50 seaters. Things will slow there dramatically. Mesa might be a good choice. Chasing upgrades is a big gamble that rarely pays off though. Good luck to those who roll the dice.

How long is taking for them to call for interviews? I just published my app on airlineapps yesterday... curious what the normal time frame is.

i heard republic is denying 2 out of 3 interviewees. can anyone confirm or deny. i would find this surprising given the current state they are in.

Be thankful if you were one if them.

Most who come to RAH have SJS and within a year or two they come to the realization that they are stuck in a dead end job with no chance of advancement for years. They realize that they are just meat in the seat for the company and working for pennies on the dollar while they watch the company use captains in the right seat when they are short but refuse to pay f/o's anything more than minimum wage.
This is why you have such a tremendous turnover. The company pays more for your hotel rooms during your trip pairing than they pay you.

I have to say that it would be a mistake for RJET to add to it's midwestern/northeastern outstation lunacy, but someone in SDF must know where the bodies are buried because when the CHQ cutbacks were announced, management made a great and immediate effort to "reassure" SDF folks that keeping the MX facility there was a high priority. I don't understand it, but perhaps someone else could offer some insight.
Maybe a year ago it was more likely for SDF to get a 170 base. Many things have changed:

1.) The old director of planning was far more crazy about outstations than the new guy is. 117 has made it much less feasible to run an airline the way we have in the past.

2.) With compass getting the AA contract and having mx there already, it's unlikely more than 1 or 2 United S5 birds will go to bed there. So that immediately puts a size limit of around 20 per seat, maybe less. The company already stated GSO (similar size to that) no longer meets their needs, they are keeping it open because there are senior people there. (I personally think it needs to go, and they're just waiting on something else)

3.) While their word is not worth much I did ask planning about the future of SDF. It's going to get smaller on the 145, no plans for a 170 base.

if we want to survive, it's time to get serious about our basing and how it effects staffing and efficiency. I'm not advocating forcing half of the company getting displaced for personal gain, but rather we need to sit down and run the numbers. facts, not rumors and theory.

If you want to fly a shiny 170 go to Compass. Much better company and way faster upgrade than RAH

Yeah, be thankful you get to keep instructing in a dead end job that you're not learning much from anymore. :roll eyes: Instead of being at a job which will start you down the road to significantly more money, benefits, and ever more and better opportunities. I made 45K here second year, more than twice what I ever made instructing. Not including the 401K contribution. When you get here, please don't be a whining filled with self-pity jerk-off like some of the others. Good luck!

Maybe true but 8 years is a very long time to wait!
