New guy Beretta01 plans on going to Republic

Beretta, how would you commute from MIA to Central Florida without the ability to list on Jetnet?
NOT A SINGLE RAH EMPLOYEE CAN CHECK LOADS OR LIST THEMSELVES OR FAMILY ON THEIR OWN AA CODESHARE FLIGHT!
As a RAH employee, you are not worthy of access to Jetnet. You are a second class citizen.
I also think they will be taking away other bases' USair flight benefits later this year. Our memo's keep saying "at this time......"
My guess is you won't listen to any of us anyway.

ASA/Expressjet pilots do not have access to Jetnet. We have same problem as you guys.

Only wholly-owned has access to JetNet. Airways never had a problem giving its regionals access to Wings and travelUS, but AA has JetNet locked down like Fort Knox.

The more significant number however, is the 200 captains and FOs hired prior to Feb 2011 (when hiring resumed) that need to transition to the E-jets from the Q/145 or otherwise accept an upgrade that until now they were unwilling to take, for whatever reason.
To boil it down, the theory that upgrade times will drop significantly once the first Feb 2011 hire is awarded an upgrade is not correct. Those folks just passed 4 years of miserable existence. With over 300 pilots in line for a 170 captain spot before them and the average monthly captain attrition of 15, they are looking at 2 more years in the right seat.
That's a six-year upgrade folks...the "big drop" in upgrade times about to happen at Republic is a myth.

I have seen some disturbing statements regarding type of airplane as far as it actually being a reason for choosing a regional airline to go to. Regional airlines are a stepping stone to a better job! That's it!!! I had the privilege of flying the E-170/175 for 3.5 years. When I left one regional to go to another, the type of airplane at the other Regional never entered into my decision process. I was committed to make a rational decision that was not clouded by SJS (an emotional aspect).
IMHO, I believe that such a decision should only consider whether you can achieve your goals. Which for most of us, is to spend as little time as possible at a Regional. My criteria for my decision was upgrade time, commutability to the most likely base from my home (I was not willing to move for such a temporary job), and lastly what were the opinions of the pilots that I knew that worked there. This was also the order that I considered each factor while making my decision.
For all those pilots that have the uncontrollable urge to go fly the E-170/175, I have news for you. IT'S JUST AN AIRPLANE!!! It should not matter whether you're flying a CRJ200 or E-175. Go to the Regional that has best chance to leave as quickly as possible!

That and the keys to the jetway doors in DFW B terminal. Gotta love playing hide and seek with gate agents just to do my job.
