My guess is you are thinking that I tried to make a comical post, and in retrospect the title of the thread probably implies that. But that was not my intention. Maybe I should have said 'Republic applicant hasn't done his homework' or something along those lines.

I really don't want the guy to go, or at least know what he is getting into. I mean look around this place, Republic pilots are not happy at all. Let's give some of them an opportunity to chime in.

I do appreciate your post. The more information and factual opinions, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

I really do appreciate the feedback here. It is all very interesting. As I said before, I'm going into this knowing the next few years are going to be brutal. Are there other options, sure. But my primary goal is/was to get in, work hard, hopefully move up in seniority, and not waste any more time. Perhaps the 2000hrs of dual was clouding my judgement....lol!?
Why can't you do all that at airlines that don't have a 7-10 year upgrade to Captain? You use the word brutal but its not the right word. How about these- depressed, angry, disillusioned, helpless, hopeless, resigned. Those would be more appropriate. Ex Republic pilots are going to Mesa (yes f*cking Mesa) and claiming things are so much better then they have ever experienced. Mesa being the place where FO's used to dress up in uniform and grocery shop together with food stamps.

Well, I'm glad there is no longer a 2 year training agreement! How common is it for FOs to switch airlines? With such a horrendous reputation, I would think it would be easy to progress in seniority at RAH in the next few years, correct?

No, I get what you're trying to do, and hopefully a few years from now Mr Baretta will appreciate it. The thread title looks like something your inner 12 year old wrote though.

Regarding JC, I was trying to back you up there. I used to be a very regular poster over there, but the scope of opinions has become somewhat homogeneous. There's probably more information here, but you have to wade through a lot of people letting out their inner 12 year old to find it.

Beretta, back to question number one: where do you live, or want to live?

All intelligent answers about what airline would be best for you stem from your answer to that question.

why would you switch companies, i understand some people going to lakes and then going to greener pasters because they didnt want to build the 1500 as a cfi, but do you really want to invest all this time and energy, move up a little bit in a company and just then move somewhere else and start all over? seniority doesnt transfer

Nice. As I type these words I'm a few miles away from DAB.

May I humbly suggest PSA? You'll be able to hold CLT before you finish training, and CLT has many one leg commutes on company metal into FL.

This is an analysis I put together a few days ago regarding what career progression looks like for new hires at PSA:
Hiring about 70 a month, attrition at about 20, net gain of 50 pilots a month while a given new hire moves up 20 places. I spoke to someone today who interviewed yesterday and was offered a 4/13 class, so about two months from interview to class date.

If the most junior guy on 2/16/15 is 1,100, using the above assumptions the most junior person on 4/13/15 is going to be 1,300.

A year after that (4/2016) he'll be very near to 1,000 while the total pilot group will be topping out around 1,900.

A year after that (4/2017) he'll be in the 750 range while the pilot group is still around 1,900 (still 16 more options out there though).

If said pilot has no 121 time when he's hired, and upgrades in 4/2017 he'll be a line holding Captain when he upgrades. If said pilot has 121 time he'll upgrade a lot sooner.

A pilot starting class in 4/2016 (say #1,900) is likely to see a lot higher attrition, especially as the Legacies, Majors, Cargo, and LCCs start to ramp up hiring. Since this group has roughly a thousand pilots now and 20 a month, it's reasonable to assume that someone hired as #1,900 could see his number go up 40 a month. If that's the case, and even assuming some slowing of his seniority gain as his seniority increases, he being 1,200-1,300 or so after a year is very possible, and well within upgrade territory a year after that is likely.
I've got no first hand experience with RAH, but there's enough information around to make an informed decision on that one.

PM me your number if you've got any questions regarding regionals in general, but eventually typing gets old.

I think it was mentioned somewhere he doesnt have an ATP written as that would have been my suggestion as well.
