No need to know the whole packet before you show up. That packet is a good chunk of your oral at the end though.

At least thats how it was 3 years ago...

What class are you in, Taylor?

Anyone know how many classes they are running in March?

You will need to know that prior to the oral but on day 1 you won't even touch that stuff. During indoc you just look at the company info and cover the Flight Operations Manual. You don't get into systems until you get to St. Louis. With that said the more you know ahead of time the better off you will be when you need to learn it later.

Limitations and memory items make up the large bulk of the oral at the end of training. Most check airman will go system by system while pointing at a poster of the overhead panel. What's this switch do, what does this light mean, why does this switch have an AUTO position, that kind of stuff. The only thing I'd say might be a little tricky would be the slides for the preflight inspection. They might ask about cooling vents for FADECs or strobe power supplies. Some of the photos leave a bit to be desired. Most check airman also have a real boner for number of static wicks per surface and which ones may be placed on the CDL. Overall, no real gotchas as far as systems knowledge goes. Getting ready for sim, know the flows and calls down cold. It'll make your life a lot easier in the box. An hour or two of chair flying with a partner can work wonders to help it make sense.

When do you get info on the flows and call outs? at FlghtSafety or during indoc?

Do you have to know the flow for both FO and Capt? I ask as some airlines seem to require FO to know both.

Thanks!

All that stuff will be in your SOP that you'll be issued during indoc. I'm not exactly sure, but you'll probably go over the flows in the procedures trainer just prior to sim. Don't wait until the last minute to look at them. They're all broken down quite nicely in the SOP. As an FO, you're only required to know the FO flows, but it doesn't hurt to at least have a cursory knowledge of the captain stuff. You'll be in that seat someday.

It's official. Closes on April 1st. They are saying that since we cancelled those 25 planes for United, they no longer have aircraft to start an E170 base in DEN.
