people died, and we all know that if we were at the controls of the RJ we’d be dead as well. We all know that the clearance given by the controller was perfectly normal for that airspace and nothing would have been done differently if the tower had 30 people or 1 of any size/shape/color/gender/ on duty.
As a mil dude with literally thousands of instructor/FE time i have never once been asked to lower my standards for anyone. To insinuate before any formal investigation is complete, that dedicated army warfighters would ever sacrifice their integrity to allow a less than fully qualified person at the controls is an incredible gross violation by any normal standard.
get a grip, keep your all consuming politics out of this. Particularly if youve never actually been in the military. I honestly question if some folks are even airline pilots here. I have never seen anything in the training departments other than complete professionalism.
people like you are why the family wanted it quiet for a couple days
Shame on you.

but you talking about vaccine boosters isnt?
wtf is going on here?
have some integrity and STOP using this tragedy to further an agenda when no one knows. Its disgusting and the people that are doing it here need a reality check since they cant seem to find any semblance of decency on their own

I’d like to know if the circle to 33 is authorized with helos on the route. Pat25 called over memorial bridge, that would be great place to hold until the crj lands. If it really was procedure to allow this as long as the helo called “visual,” then the system really did fail everyone that night.

I wonder if DCA tower knew PAT25 was a training flight and thereby given it more attention. ATC's displays could be made to indicate training flights as it could be included in flight plans.
Maybe PAT("Priority" Air Transport) is not such a good call sign.

Been a few decades since I was last in DCA. Is it only RJs doing 33? There was a point in time when mainline aircraft were also using it. As a pax, I landed on 33 (believe it was 32 at the time) in an Eastern 757 (yes...I am that old).

they were all qualified. Do we notify atc when we do ioe flights?

This is a good idea. Similar to when a military MEDEVAC unit is actually on a civilian MEDEVAC and attaches that to the call sign.

I don't think the intent is similar to "N12345 Solo", but rather so all involved know that there isn't any reason not to have the helo be the main point of deconfliction vs. when a talking head is onboard. Not saying I agree with them needing to zoom through there anyway, but if so, at least delineate actual transport vs. just crew on board.
