Uh, yeah, they do. It's not a "free job" either. Funny you'd say that. But let's go with that premise. So, if they had a "free" job at Delta, why not take it? We've got stacks and stacks and stacks of resumes and people beating down the door to get here....and given they could have gotten their "free job" within the last several years, and enjoyed unprecedented seniority progression (heck could have even upgraded to 75/76 left seat) on all fleets (speaking about right seat here mostly), why would one pass that opportunity up? hmmmmm......

I'm just glad for the frangible wings on the jet. This could have been a lot worse. Good to see most all of the pax walked away from it.

It's not only Delta, all the legaices just went thru an tremendous hiring boom with crazy seniority progression (just look at our 2 year 76 captain(s) ). No, most of the cats, so called "sticking it out" at the regionals, are just flat out not hireable at a legacy. That's why they haven't moved on.
And until that captains record is known, it's BS to get this talk started.

But I guess since no one died, I guess it makes it ok to go ahead and disparage this crew before the facts are known because of an agenda of outsourcing flying. Where most people didn't go, " regionals suck and pilots are inexperienced and will kill people" just minutes after the news of the DCA mid air broke.....

If you withheld your views on regionals after the DCA mid air, you should be biting your tongue here for now.

Yeah, the CBC is describing it as an "incident". In my experience, anytime you tear off the wings and tail, it qualifies as a crash. Fortunately (near miraculously) there appear to be only eight people injured and none of those life-threatening.

it ought to be an interesting mishap investigation.

Anyone know how hard you have to plant the “landing” (G’s at impact) to bust the MLG through the lower fuselage? The 900 does not perform well in the “soft landing” category when you reduce the thrust levers to idle to early.

That's just simply not true. There are 5-800 captains at OO that have never applied to work anywhere else. Do I think they're short-sighted? Absolutely but some people get comfortable and don't have any idea what they're missing out on.

2X if not 3X beyond the design load limit. All of our limitations are dumbed down versions of the real limit, for good reason.

I can't explain why people don't jump? But maybe he lives in Minnesota and is a decade from retirement and enjoys his easy trips that he knows he'll never hold as an FO at Delta. And certainly, now with their pay rates, never hold for the amount he's being paid? Maybe, for some people, being A Delta Pilot isn't a life goal?

According to a witness,

Fourth hand info but a pilot witness that saw the landing attempt claims that it struck one wing, breaking that wing off, then "cartwheeled" busting the tail off before coming to rest on its back.

Someone grab all the info that you can-Demographics, hire date, training issues. The news is already calling it a "landing" so they can get ahead on burying the story.
Same with C5 at PQI in 2019.
