CRJ accident at Toronto

Not even that uncommon, so not controversial an utterance really. It's amazing how umbraged people get at what effectively is just occam's razor.
Winter runway excursions and landing loss of control are not new in the airline space; sure FFD carriers leading that race but not limited to them. Heck, they had one less than a week ago in STL. In fairness, this one had a lot of speed to rip wings off and do the MD-11 croc roll. Sounds more like an inability to handle crosswinds on landing than a ground roll braking miscontrol flavored pilot error. Wonder if the airport had cameras that caught it.

Yes maybe short-sighted in some cases but generally their lives don't suck so it's easy to settle in.

Why do pilots always try to throw our fellow aviators under the bus first chance we get?? For chrissakes, let the investigation play out and be thankful no one was killed.

I know approx. zero about CRJs other than a 700/900 is mo betta than a 200 ... auto throttles, slats and sufficient thrust, stuff like that. But I must say that a wing that shears at the approprite stress factor is pretty handy in terms of removing most fuel (maybe there's a center tank?) from the final resting point of fuselage. Upside down hanging from a belt seems much more survivable with the wings out of the way. If there had to be a crash, this is a stroke of good fortune!

Speculation is great precisely because it keeps a conversation about safety at the forefront.

Because the gets at the top of the majors lists right now that have almost 40 years, and some 40+, didn’t have baby faces when they were hired? GMAFB, go outside and touch some grass.
