Heck, the "trained" LEOs aren't all that good in these situations. That said, this guy should have been excluded from a permit based on the psych profile, except everyone is afraid of documenting and bring sued as a result. My state won't put known mental cases into the NICS check system due to privacy concerns.

I'm surprise no one brought this up. Ever wonder why mass shootings usually happens at a gun free zone? Anti gun group such as Every-town or MDA wants more gun free zone. However, when a mass shooting happens, in one of those gun free zone, they ask "Where is the good guy with a gun?" trying to prove that conceal or open carry doesn't help.

Most law abiding citizen respect those gun free zone, and when a mass shooting happens, they wonder why there's no "Good guy with a gun"
A shot doesn't have to be fired, for a conceal carry hold to stop a bad guy. I'll bet most of you don't know about this regarding the oregon mall shooting. Take a look for yourself.

So what should I tell my wife if there is a home invasion? Pull the gun from the safe and take the kids and hide? Or have no way to defend herself, while waiting 5-10 minutes for the police? It's not considered "wild west" if we have a chance to defend ourself with a gun.

Our "good guy with a gun" proponent still hasn't told us why 9 Houston police officers with guns couldn't stop a bad guy with a gun and paid with their lives. But, he's an NRA true believer so he won't answer that question.

No one is talking about home invasion. We were talking about a "good guy with a gun" in a public place. But thanks for comparing apples to oranges. Hope your kid doesn't shoot himself or one of his playmates with your unsecured guns.

If you actually read my post you will see the word "safe"... So you just assume I have unsecure guns in my house? I've already mention that it was in a safe, yet you assume that I just leave guns where my kids can get it.

I think we need to stop thinking about guns as zero sum. I have one and have no problem with concealed carry. My points still stand in my previous post that 3 wannabe heros in a crowded airport are far more dangerous to the public than additional police.

The argument was mad that an airport is a gun free zone and thus an ideal target for mass shootings. On the contrary, there is more armed presence in an airport than most public places on the planet.

How does law enforcement decide who is the bad guy with a gun and who is the good guy with a gun? What if there are two good guys with a gun, how do they decide who is a good guy and who is a bad guy?

This question comes up alot. I suggest you pull up some security footage of some robberies or home invasion on YouTube. Most of the time the bad guy will start running when they start to get shot at. This usually is over in less than 5 seconds. What you see in Hollywood is not real life. Shoot out don't last until the police shows up.

Except we aren't talking about robberies where people don't want to get caught. We are talking about situations like terrorism or mass executions where, almost always, the person kills until he is killed or until he can only kill himself. Cops showing up only present more targets.
