Should have went to the police, but instead encouraged her to seek help. Now out of job, throwing the wife in jail would not have been good for the two young kids involved, protecting the kids at all cost was priority 1. The people who made covid 19 political should really take note of stories like this that are destroying family after family across America. Assumed that company would understand the circumstances but refused to speak to him.

Quote: Came on here to get some info on Atlas/southern as it looks like my job is sketchy going into fall furlough season but reading back on the last couple posts not sure this is good for my career, what kind of corporate culture would toss a pilot going through a situation like that. Guess it doesn't surprise me these days.
So based "on the last couple of posts" you can decide if Atlas/Southern is good or bad for your career?

We all heard the stories about Southern pre covid, they could not fill classes, bottom feeder, training failures ect. I know there are a lot of good people in the seats at Southern but management is always a different element. My point was who in their right mind would send a pilot packing after going through such a horrible ordeal? I have been at large airlines where the chief pilot would personally visit pilots in crisis, probation or not. Just not what I personally want to hear when we have thousands of brothers and sisters hanging heading into very uncertain times. I came online more to read then to comment.

You couldn’t ask for 2 better guys than the current Southern DO (who is former Atlas) and the CP. Southern’s union reps also consistently go above and beyond for crewmembers even when they don’t deserve it, are on probation, etc. You don’t have a clue what you’re talking about in regards to Southern, and neither does the guy posting a 2nd hand sob story. Enjoy that furlough at whatever non-bottom-feeder airline you work for.

I agree Jetstream is out of line in his thinking. On the other hand this is not a second hand sob story. It's a pilot in crisis out of no fault of his own and the pilot group can rally behind a pilot in crisis or not. These are very hard times in Americans, especially pilots, and they require non normal checklist solutions in my opinion. For me personally I own a couple of small rental properties and I'm currently letting the tenants live rent free because of what is happening in our country. In regular times I would never consider such a decision. The isn't a sob story its a harsh reality of 2020 that many Americans are facing

The type of culture of a management team that has sued a widow in the past.

Not the first time I've heard something along those lines.

If it happens to you, call 911 immediately. You can get help for the SO, and eventually get her back with the kids but if you don't make the call it can easily turn into the man gets the blame, which will be Game Over for an airline pilot. The system is spring-loaded to blame you, not her. I know a guy who got saved only because his six-year old daughter was very mature, made a very credible witness, and somehow managed to make the right choice and tell the truth in a very tough spot. BTW the cops and DA tuned out the daughter's testimony, they took the easy SOP: blame the dude. It got sorted out in court, and took months. All would have been avoided if he had made the call immediately.

That was my advice after I was informed about what happened. In the split of the moment all I think he was doing was trying to protect the kids. From a legal point she has left a trail behind here, so from a legal I think he is ok. She is getting help, but the damage has been done to his career and that is the worst part for him moving forward. We called him ICE for always leaving home, home and being cool and collected in the airplane, great pilot. Just a sad sad story in my opinion, and I hope during these times the company would reach out and make an exception.

Do your due diligence. We've been merciful to a fault with some, and we've been petty and punitive to others. Keep your head down and move the freight will get you promoted into whatever spot you want. If you're at a point in life where you're tired of being quiet, wait til you are off probation.

It's like any other job you've had.
