Being on reserve is NOT a day off, especially for commuters. I hope advice/mentorship is not being given on a person's wrong definition of a day off. "Hey, come work for my Airline! I had xx 'days off' last month!"
If the only mentorship you're given is that, you need a new mentor.
And I am a commuter. And I averaged single digit days away from home this fall. How would you describe that?
We aren't talking about contractual days off. But if I had to turn a wheel 5 times this fall, I have no problem saying I really didn't have to work the other 85 days.
Sweet, then from now on scheduling knows that you will be happy to be on reserve everyday of the month and that they will make sure that any day they don't use you will count as a day off. Enjoy your days off.
