You don't have to believe because it will be. Plus they'll your company will probably hit for the max rate as most do on bonuses etc. It wouldn't be protected in anyway as retirement.

Just to be clear- was that post intended for anyone who accepts the buyout or was it for all the guys that dropped off the ABX seniority list last year?

I could only imagine what a big happy family ATSG/ATLAS would be under Teamsters.

Totally confused here. First they need to hire like gangbusters, now they are offering buyouts? I thought they were awarded like 20 jets for Amazon? If that is so, they can't afford to lose a single person. Something bigger stewing here?

We are semi caught up on staffing levels for the planes that are here.

We are in contract negotiations so lots of doom and gloom will be used on the pilot group.

The top half of this company is at the top of the pay scale and makes good money. This buyout is nothing more than to try to get them to leave early and fill the seniority list with low year people. The first class that came is only 60ish numbers away from upgrade. If you don't count the people that have been bypassing upgrade, that number drops to 30ish away. The average age of the pilot group is 58.

The company may also think that they could do away with some hardliners and make passing a crappy contract easier. I don't think this tactic will work though. "If" that's one of the goals.

Just to clarify, ATSG can place those jets in either ABX or ATI as they wish. There's no hard scope language for Amazon.

I'm just going to copy and paste from the sticky notes on the "2017 pilot contract" title on JH's office "to do" board:

Step 1: Tell your pilots ABX is not competitive because they're way too expensive. Note to myself: don't forget to tell them they stabbed the company in the back, make sure Amazon doesn't find out the strike was on me

Step 2: Demand a crappy contract.

Step 3: If pilots don't want to sign the new sh*tty a** contract, tell them all new flying is going to ATI.

Step 4: If they still don't want to sign the contract, send all new Amazon airplanes to ATI. Note: don't over do it, we don't want ATI to become a liability. We can take the airplanes away from them later on

Step 5: Offer senior pilots a crappy early out. Key words: overstaffed and F... yeahh F my favorite word. That'll teach them.

Step 6: When is ATI's turn to sign a new contract, repeat step 1 thru 5.

The only problem here is that ABX pilots won't cave. They can use the word F but beleive me, nobody is afraid on this side of the fence. The strike has brought the group closer, seems like we're all on the same page. Just like what everybody said when the strike happened. "Now or never!" And NO, we don't regret it.
