Quote: If you read through all of the forums for each of the companies, part 91, 135, Regional and Majors, you will notice that every one of the companies is terrible to work for and all of them do nothing but enslave their employees. However, with very few exceptions, specifics aren't mentioned, they are a matter of opinion.
This is so true.

Like another poster said, choosing a regional is like trying to pick the cleanest turd out of a bucket full of turds. lol

I've read back roughly 4 or 5 pages (and all of the threads on them) at each regional I was considering.
So, yes, I did read quite a bit about OO. There were both positives and negatives.

I have a hard time believing ANY of them are as bad as this forum makes them seem.
These days, how could they be? If they were THAT bad...everyone would just bail. I mean, there are a LOT of options out there right now.

Like most things in life: You make the best choice with the information you have at the time, and move forward.

FWIW.... OO was top of my list - especially with that 'industry credit', except for:
- They couldn't (or wouldn't! ) tell me how long to upgrade.
- And, I'd be in DTW or ORD for years once doing so.

Yes, you are correct...there aren't many negatives posted about SkyW.

With G7, I can get CA almost immediately, and be based in STL, or even possibly DEN. (Kids live near.)

IF there was as decent chance of a jr CA at OO getting DEN, I'd be all over that.

Thanks everyone, for the input.

It’s all a gamble. I went to Eagle for LAX.... that rug got pulled. And as far as i can tell GoJet Denver may be shrinking..???... SkyWest is growing in DEN as we speak... anyone’s guess... check back in a few days on SkyWest upgrade time. May drop to NH’s again next week.. If you want STL go to GoJet...And it’s a smaller company so you won’t be 1 of 4920...

My point was that, although you see page after page about how bad GoJet is, and you can see many lawsuits against Gojet for blatantly violating employee rights laws, you do not see much of that kind of thing about Skywest. Skywest is 9.8 times the size of Gojet, and it is rare to hear anything bad.

What are bad things people say about Skywest? Maybe I just have missed it? I'm happy to listen and will admit that I was ignorant if I am.

I can give lots of specifics about Gojet. Violations of Reserve and Guard member rights, violations of FMLA leave, cutting off jumpseat when guys are on their last trip so they have to buy a ticket home, using check rides as a form of punishment. Lying in Federal Court. Google.com shows it all.

Skywest is tough and not everyone makes it through training, but they do their best. People I know who did not make it through all blame themselves and talk about the extra effort Skywest made to get them through.

All of the planned CRJ 550 flying for the summer is ORD and EWR. So far no sign of the CRJ 550 in DEN.

If that pattern holds true then Gojet management needs to keep DEN pilots from hearing the fire alarm and running for the door before management is ready to close that base. They tell every one it's staying open right up until they're ready to tell everyone it's closing.

I don't think you can blame GoJet Management for people going to Gojet so they can be based in Denver. Gojet's Denver flying is for United. Gojet has 25 planes for United and all 25 are being converted and going to fly from ORD and EWR. Yet, for some reason, people are coming on this forum and saying they are going to go to GoJet because they want to be based in Denver.

Can we really protect people from their own stupidity?

The recruiter gets 10k if they get someone to sign on, of course they are going to plead ignorance about what will happen to Denver. "Yes, we are fortunate and have a Denver base where we fly to 38 different cities. Well, yes, we are getting the 550 that will fly for United out of ORD and EWR but that does not mean that Denver will close. Gojet says they are very happy with the Denver base and have not announced any plans to close the Denver base. I would not be suprised to see Denver grow."

while Skywest has its flaws and is certainly not the best regional for everyone, if I lived in DEN, SKW would be my first choice (G7 has an uncertain future in DEN)

Upgrade right now at OO is under 2 years(DTW, maybe ATL and ORD) and 3 years for DEN (2 years 9 months for COS). the last few months have had many vacancies in DEN and I would guess you could be based there relatively soon as an FO. Upgrade is a moving target and can change at a moment. You are only guaranteed an upgrade time after you pass CA training. hope this helps

cursesRedBaron has like 5000 TT and >1000 SIC Part 121 or 135 already. Would he be able to upgrade much sooner than a typical FO with no SIC time?
