True, but the retirement age has a huge impact on seniority at a given age. For example, if the mandatory retirement age had remained 60, I would have retired in the mid triple digits at 60. With the bump to 65, retiring at 60 puts me in the 2,000 range and short of holding the seat I'd like. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice to be in the left seat of our highest paying equipment for a few years before retirement.

If it gets bumped up to 67 I could be as low as 3,000 when turning 60. As it stands, I'm contemplating a semi-retired lifestyle where I drop half or more of my schedule, just for the fun of being a 777A or equivalent for the last few years. It all depends on what QOL items we have in the contract.

Everyone's situation is different. For some an increased age is a huge QOL hit, because of the stagnation.

Those 777A types will be in Mumbai in a few months, just for fun. Monsoons, P.O. ed Iranian SAM operators watching them fly overhead, not to mention the 20 foot crocs at the pool. It's quite the life.

Its not that bad. The jet lag will kill you before any of the things you mention.

Or the curry. That can be a killer too.

This is all true, too. IMO 65 is more than long enough... those that got hosed got 5 more years mostly in CA positions. The rest of us got 5 more years whenever we were when it happened. Bye, Felecia.

And then again, age 67 could give those that lost their retirement a little more time to make up the difference since many of the younger crowd doesn't give a flying **** about them and aren't willing to do anything to help them out in the upcoming negotiations.

Be honest. They didn’t lose their retirement. They lost a varied portion of it from little to a larger amount.

I’ll more than happily fight for retiree medical and increased contributions looking particularly at tax free solutions as that is the right thing to do.

You got a couple years of trash panda time when you couldn’t hold it, too, so the crocodile tears aren’t unnoticed. (good for you for going for it!)

I've enjoyed 777B so far. The most dangerous animal has been a kangaroo and the only thing shooting at me has been the occasional volcano on the Kamchatka peninsula. I do like Indian cuisine, but preferred eating it in the UK.

That's one of the things I liked about age 60. I could have done that type of flying from 55-60...
