Funny reading how so few understand how the M&A process works.

No we wouldn't be stapled to the bottom of the UA seniority list. In fact, my guess is the majority of JB pilots would be happy with how that integration went.

It doesn't matter what the pilot group does or doesn't do in relationship to how a merger would finalize. It's in the hands of 3-4 JB pilots (The chairman and 3 other M&A members) who have full authority and autonomy to negotiate and argue before a aribtration board.

A merger with SW would be trickier as the ALPA guidelines don't necessarily need to be followed. What you would worry about is if they tried to Guadalupe Holdings incorporate JB like they did with AT. That's when it would get messy.

I'll take a merger with a legacy any day over SW. Plus, who wants to fly a POS boeing anyways?!

Wouldn’t the whole point of SW buying an airbus operator be to diversify the fleet and operate 2 types. In that unique situation, I don't think it would be like AT where all pilots were forced to the 737 as the other aircraft type disappeared. Although we have vacancy bids every month, I also think SW would have to have some sort of fence otherwise it would be a training nightmare as everyone bids the other airplane. I think a SLI would transpire very slowly over a period of time. Things (change) happens very slowly over here at WN. I’m still not convinced that all this talk of SW looking at a M&A is any more than pressure on boeing to sweeten the deal.

Yes.......

Not gonna happen: B6 is a profitable company with a healthy balance sheet and extremely valuable assets to whatever partner wants to dance (JFK, BOS, FLL, the new MCO Terminal, DCA, LGA slots, future Europe Slots) and (A320NEO/A321LR/XLR and A220-300 Order Book).

B6 pay rates are also essentially equivalent to WN, even the A220-300 Pay rates are on par with WN rates. This would likely be an equal merger in class and category, if it were to happen at all. Any attempt by SWAPA to strong arm the deal would fail in arbitration. B6 brings too much goodness to the negotiating table with whomever attempts to Merge/Acquire. There also would likely be a major bidding war on an attempt to acquire vs a mutually agreed upon merger. It’s in WNs financial best interest to avoid a bidding war and keep cost of any deal low.

I don’t worry about Guadeloupe holdings because our scope prevents the BS that happened to AT under that situation.

Yep.

Airtrans successorship language specifically allow SWA to Guadeloupe them. BTW SWA did not buy Airtran.

Guadeloupe did.

Our contract forces a merger of operation with the entity that controls or is controlled by an air carrier.

One thing you don’t need to worry about. Yes I think it would be a little different. That’s a whole different enemy and if you read above that turd contract seems to help us. (With that said we definitely have stuff to fix)

Can you copy/paste your actual wording for that part of Sec 1?

I think you would be much happier with an SLI at SW. it would be a merger of equals. A United and JB deal would not be a merger of equals. The relative seniority SLI dream wouldn’t pan out.

Not happening anyway. United just announced they are hiring 4000 pilots between now and 2022. That wouldn’t be necessary if a merger with JB was on the horizon. Good news for anyone who wants to jump ship though.
