Two minutes after takeoff, they're climbing through 7,200 feet doing decelerating toward 160 knots in a tight right turn according to FlightAware. -- Wow, that's a pants sh*tting moment for sure.

Starting that turn pronto to re-orient their lift vector away from the moon could have been what saved their bacon and gave them the time needed to run the QRH and handle the emergency.

I hope the details of this event are eventually put out to the pilot group so everyone can learn from it.

Good job by the crew!

Maybe Republic doesn't do this but my company takes high profile incidents and "unpacks them." Using reports from the crew and FOQA data, the safety department builds a narrative of the event and puts it out to the pilot group 2-3 months later. Done all in the name of enhancing crew awareness and readiness to deal with emergencies.

The FAA mandated EET Training administered in the sim is extremely basic in nature. Making the claim EET Training "checks the box" and therefore there is no need for an internal company discussion about this event is preposterous.

I could be wrong, but I think he/she was referring to the reason they were in a bank. Banking the aircraft to reduce lift is the EET recovery procedure for a runaway pitch trim. I don’t think they were implying that it shouldn’t be looked into further.

Quote: I'm on the 145, so I guess that makes us cousins, but a single yoke mounted pitch trim switch can be MELd with us. Same for you? Might explain that deferral statement more clearly.
I will refuse that MEL all day long especially if it's on the Captain side. I challenged mx one time, "so you want this plane to fly today in hard IMC and the captain isn't allowed to fly with this MEL?" Response was, I didn't think about that.

I think that is the worst MEL we have.... worse than an ECU out.

Quote: Both yoke mounted pitch trim switches can be deferred as long as the backup switch on the center console is operable. The original statement sounds as if the entire pitch trim system was deferred.
Sounds like that mel is going to be changing soon..

Great job by the crew!

Not sure if they could have done it though had Delta not spoken up!

I can't believe that Delta guy had the audacity to ask if they ran the QRH....unreal. Reminds me of the video of that cirrus that took off to intercept a nearby aircraft with an engine failure to provide assistance.
