He said the hysteria is politically driven, which is accurate. Much of the rest of the world and a good portion of the US is learning to live with the virus being around. The hysteria that is still being peddled is mostly political activism.

Shoot yeah much of the rest of the world is learning to live it: by taking active measures to respect the disease and protect themselves.

In the US, today, we got Herman Cain dying today while his Twitter was blasting off nonsense and Turning Point deleting face-masking memes when their cofounder passed today.

Yet all I hear/read is “Well it’s only (insert US total death here) of people who died and it’s not higher, as predicted by (insert some crazy article claiming millions were supposed to die).”

Just a few months ago it was the “it’s only 10000 and not 100000” crowd and now it’s the “150000 and not 3M” talk. Also, “they’re all old anyways too so let the tough people get on with it.”

There’s been a **** ton of lives lost with this virus. Only 46% of Americans get the Flu Vaccine each year. That Vaccine is proven over a hundred years with no crazy side effects. When people say “ah this will all be over with a vaccine”. Yeah ok, Covid 19 Vaccine was botched together within months and I bet 10% of Americans actually get it due to being scared of what may be in it. But next year it will be Covid 20, 21, and so on just like the flu it’s not going anywhere. So a vaccine won’t be the cure for the airline industry and the confidence of American people. Not to mention business travel and zoom. This is a long road ahead. Probably another lost decade.

Yeah one it hasn’t been thrown together. I would wager shortages rather that e no one taking it. This is mainly due to the virus leaves some nasty damage that we don’t know the long term nature of. I bet you find 50-70 percent of people taking it.

In fact, it's so well proven that you have to get it every year, and even if you do get it, you still have a good chance of getting the flu.

That may because unlike COVID where they are vaccinating against a known virus, vaccine makers have to guess what will be the dominant strain of flu every year. As to yearly updates that’s because the flu mutates significantly all the time. Finally people who get the flu shot rarely end up in the hospital with severe flu.

It took just under 3 years after 9/11 for passenger counts to reach pre-9/11 numbers. It’ll be interesting to see how today’s situation compares to that.

You're pretty far off the mark...

1) It hasn't been 100 years.
2) The "Flu Vaccine" is actually a cocktail of 3-4 different vaccines targeted at what they think will be the dominant strains each season. It changes twice each year.

1) It wasn't "botched together". Multiple vaccines (about 200) are in development using all of the different established and cutting-edge technologies. There should be multiple effective options to chose from, and some may be more suitable for some people than others. All normal pharma certification procedures are being followed so far.
2) Most of the people who don't get the flu shot aren't scared of it, they just didn't get around to it. Given the scare factor of covid, I would expect most folks will make the time. It will go to health care workers first (mandatory), then critical infrastructure folks like us (also mandatory), so by the time it even becomes available to the general public there will be some history.

No it's not at all like the flu in that regard... the flu exists in a perpetual mutation loop between pigs, domestic birds, and peasants in asia. That loop serves are a rapid incubator for new mutations, which them get on planes and spread across the globe.

Covid has not exhibited that behavior, nor is it likely to. Once vaccination is established, covid cases will fade to isolated pockets... likely too few cases to provide good opportunity for continuous mutations. Besides there will be multiple vaccines, mutating around one will not necessarily render others ineffective.

Zoom is not what you think it is. I did sales and management in corporate America... most business travel cannot be replaced by zoom. Some, yes but that was already happening before covid.
