since when is it my responsibility to pay fellow coworkers their salary? You laugh or poke fun at the 1% furlough assessment but where does it end for you. Apparently I am supposed to fund my family and 100% of another pilots family. That’s is exactly what this travesty of a LOA is. There is seniority for a reason. You knew that the minute you applied. That’s why every one of you checked on how many United was hiring every month & how many people were beneath you or how close were to the G line. ..every F’n PBS bid.

I’m all in for assessments and furlough protection language IE current contract.

Asking me to take a significant 120,000 pay cut just to see if United doesn’t furlough. is another story.

Pretty much the definition of a union defines socialist ideals. This is the biggest solidarity movement in the history here at United. I recall the FedEx pilots reducing down to 49 hours MPG to save their fellow pilots. Pretty cool that these options came to light. I would be proud to show UAL management how we are WHOLE as a group.

Yeah, and see, here’s what bothers me. I’m going to step into the cockpit and behave humbly and no different than I ever would, and none of this will change that no matter how it turns out. After 4 years here I feel like I’ve gotten a decent bead on the 690 personalities that fly here, and there's a significant number who will show on day one and ask how I voted. They’ll remind me how lucky I am to still be here (if it passes). They'll say things like “well at least I don’t have to buy you a beer since I already pay your mortgage.” They’ll behave like you’ve stated. Same folks that wouldn’t stop complaining about everything when times were good, or brought up politics or whatever divisive issue they could while using the soapbox of the left seat.

And the real beauty of it is that it’s exactly what the company wanted.

I don’t know you, so maybe you’re not that guy. I don’t know, I don’t know you. There are plenty out there like that, though.

The FedEx thing was a $h!tshow that is still being argued on a regular basis. It also ended up needing major repairs in the next contract (which cost negotiating capital, or in other words, even more money). And, oh, one last thing. The company didn't implement any of it in the way that the MEC thought they would - shocking! How many times will pilots do this to themselves?

Amazing how many do not grasp this and think a $50000 paycut is reasonable to save their job. This is industry is tough...life is tough. Been furloughed twice and never stuck my hands in another pilots pocket.

Exactly. Not only that, they can still furlough in 8 months and we will still be living with this pos.
