OK I understand that seniority/longevity impacts pay. But guess I wasn't clear in that I'm talking about seniority for part time Captains. They don't need it for upgrades (as they are already a Captain and can't be a part timer on the jet). I guess that leave vacation so do part timers even get vacations and what is Plane Sense's vacation policy?

I don't believe that you get vacation when you're part time but can't be 100% sure. You can decide to go full time when your number comes up for the jets though. The part time guy who I spoke of earlier was in just that position and he was moving back to full time. Frankly, I still don't understand why a part timer would move back to full time. You can make more money part time and have all the time off you want. If multi turbine time is something you seek, get out to the local airport and meet people and offer SIC services. Pt 91 and corporate operators are hurting for pilots and it shouldn't be too difficult to find a couple gigs.

Everyones situation is certainly different though.

Completely agree. DF was probably the smartest guy there, part time is the way to go. I ran the numbers and you get more days off for the same pay working PT.

And if multi turbine is your goal it'll be more profitable and quicker just to go sit right seat on a bizjet somewhere, or go to a regional for a year or two to build multi time.

I personally did not get along with that guy and hated the few days I had to spend with him. He has he distinction of being the only person on my "do not fly with" list. But I'll agree and hand it to he's the best at playing the part time game. The whole "don't hate the player" thing. He was probably working the same number of days a full time person was but he is probably the highest paid pilot there.

Now that PlaneSense is looking at a minimum of 1000 hour FOs, they're actually putting themselves in a pretty tight corner. I've seen several postings on several sites offering jobs for sub 1500 hour pilots. When the starting salary is better, benefits and schedule are the same, PS is going to have a very hard time attracting anyone with a CMEL.

Congrats! I was offered the job in November then got a call in February to expect class in 'late fall'. Bummer. Oh well! Enjoy it!

Quote: Just wondering what time do crews normally report, especially in PSM, on the Tuesday the start their rotation and what time do they get off at the end of their rotation. Also once you get on the rotation do you stay on it or does it ever change?
4am on day one, probably airport standby all day sitting in the computer room on a cheap ass computer chair, then a 2 hour repo somewhere as you try not to fall asleep.

Back to PSM at 2100 on day 8, but then they have you sit standby "just in case something comes up", even though you don't have enough duty time to do anything productive, and there are 3 other crews on standby within 100 miles of PSM.

For the love of God please stop whining.

The hardships you face in this job are so totally unfair, why oh why do they keep treating you this way? It's a job, you are an employee, you are on the clock. Starting late on day 1 and ending on day 7 so you can be all cozy in your bed early on day 8 is for vacation, not for work. Grow up. This job is work much of the time, go figure. This isn't some part time after school gig at the local country club.

So totally unfair. You should be able to work less for way more money, and they should be grateful that you grace them with your presence.

Life is hard.

I heard George A is going to make you his personal Cirrus Jet pilot. $50 bonus if you fly it over red line.
