It still way better than a military tdy, if she’s accustomed to those. Plan to hit the books to learn your airplane but the short breaks are nice trips back home for her.

Trying to plan out for the Fam. Do the sims operate continuously through the holidays? Essentially I am expecting an indoc near the end of Oct. and attempting to gain something of a vision of how that will work. Trying to build reasonable expectations.

last class I think it was offered in was august 3rd

Plan sim footprint of 4-6 days on, prog check, 1-2 days off (quick visit home). Rinse repeat 2-4 times depending on your aircraft: ER is longer, narrowbodies slightly shorter. After your final sim eval expect 2-30 days off depending on aircraft. OE takes about 7-14 days depending on fleet and instructor availability. To be on the safe side I’d plan to be working both tgiving and Christmas Day this year but it’s reasonable to expect at least 2 days off near those dates if you learn how to bid quickly. So maybe Santa arrives in the 22d or 27th this time. Your wife might also be able to fly with u on a holiday if that sounds appealing.

If you and yours really want to prepare for worst case scenario, expect less than a full day between sims and OE. Depending on where you live, when/where your OE begins and what sim period you finish with, you may find yourself with minimal time to unwind/relax/cohabitate/mate before you’re off to the airport. Also know that the OE plan may not reveal itself until very late in your simulator training (if at all), and your bid results for Nov/Dec+ may have no bearing on what days you actually end of having off.
