Quote: So basically you want to get tested everywhere you go? Do you test every day at home when going out because you may want to know if you may be infecting someone else tomorrow?
All I'm saying is that I don't care if a hotel tests my room for Covid after I depart, either domestic or international. Sorry not everyone sees the world though the same glasses as you. Last time I checked, It's still ok for people to have varying opinions. If anyone here disagrees with the 12 angry posters they get called a troll. I've been here for 22 years. You boys can have your sandbox back, sorry I dipped my toe in it. Adios, I'm out....

Regardless of if you care or not about the testing the fact is, the company knew this testing was going on and didn’t tell the crew members. Why do you think that is?

Quote: I'm sure the 12 angry men will blame Alpa.
I don’t know how even those knuckle heads could throw blame at the wrong people on this one. The company knew about this and didn’t divulge it until they got caught with their hand in the cookie jar a couple days ago. They purposely withheld this information. Ask yourself why?

Quote: So based on this "post checkout hotel room test" in CAN, 3 guys were suspected and then confirmed to have been COVID positive when they landed in KIX. They were put into quarantine as a result thus preventing them from infecting others fellow pilots and other people they come in contact with. Is that not a good thing? I don't want 3 unknowingly COVID positive guys running around the AOC upon their return. What am I missing here besides the fact that they were not aware of some testing procedure the hotel conducted on the rooms post checkout?
What your missing is testing is going on without the crew members knowledge. The test results are then determined at an undeterminable time later and divulged to who knows what country that you are heading to next. Imagine being surprised upon landing in HKG and being greeted by health official notifying you that you are heading to a government camp. You ask “how do you know I have COVID”? Oh sir we tested your toilet lid in CAN. Well that may have changed my decision to go to HKG if known. It also might change my decision to go on a trip to CAN also. Are you starting to see why the company withheld this information.

I agree 100%. I’ve always wondered also about the tests in SYD. What happens when you don’t get the results back before you are on your way to CAN. What a pleasant surprise that would be. You think the company would divert you somewhere more “pleasant” to spend a 14 day quarantine…maybe SIN? No, they’d wait till you landed in CAN. And tell you good luck. That airplane that was on standby in Guam, to allegedly get us out, left months ago.

so I don’t get the other guys statements. A quarantine anywhere in the US vs SE Asia... Really? Hope those guys are testing every day at home on layovers as not to expose anyone! Such hero’s.

The company purposefully did not divulge this to protect the operation and fill their pockets. Despicable. So much for People first company. Many management pilots knew about this also. Let that sink in.

What about the CA/FO that stay in CAN for 48 while the RFO(s) on the inbound crew leave sooner and their test comes back positive? Obviously this was all too much for us to be burdened with, so the company was nice enough to keep us focused on the mission .

This is extraordinary, and it will be interesting to hear the details when they come out. Unethical, and I wonder if allowing and not telling pilots about this was illegal.

Quote: If I was positive, I would not want to expose others. That's the bottom line. I assume all responsible crew members get tested prior to departing for China.
You assume wrong when you’re on a 12 day trip you might pass through CAN several times. Mostly you can only test before a trip and at select locations internationally.

How about checking out of CAN room for a one day trip to another location and then get back to CAN to face the government quarantine vacation in CAN. I am sure its nice and right where our executives would go, just like HKG!
