There are many commies in the country. Mostly the younger Millennials and Zoomers who love AOC and Bernie and want free crap. They have absolutely no historical reference to what that means because they were coddled by their parents and went to schools that didn't have books. That generation is a problem and is going to willingly give away their freedom if they don't smarten up. hopefully they learn when they mature like the rest of us did. However with the exception of dingbat AOC and the squad, who are mostly ignored in Congress, they aren't in charge yet.
Covid wasn't fake. It was a real pandemic and a hell of a lot of people died. Stop with the conspiracy covid cures. Even ivermectin was shown to be internet quackery. The problem was we let it become a political battle that both sides dug in determined to win. It got sucked into the culture wars. The mask crap should have ended when the vaccines came out. Now they are legislating fear.Calling it communism is a stretch. What is communism is the fact that I can't go to the grocery store and buy what I want because they are out of things like coffee creamer. Reminds me of the bread lines in the late stage USSR. The government is constraining the supply chain now with the covid crap that should have ended last year.
Then you go off into a rant about offshoring. I somewhat agree with you but you act like that started when dems took over at Obama's election. Mills were closing in NC back in the 60s. What you're seeing with offshoring is unbridled capitalism at its finest. when you give mega corporations free rein to do whatever they want, they will screw the people over every time. They answer to their shareholders not the consumers to workers. There is an opposite extreme of communism and it's capitalism. And isms aren't good. None of that is germane to this discussion however. It has nothing to do with the Russia crisis. Fact is major oil companies quit fracking (domestic oil supply) because it's a very expensive way to get oil out of the ground and doesn't pay unless oil is above $100bbl. Watch those pumps start pumping again. We can definitely pump our way out of this oil crisis like we did in 2008.
NATO can't be dissolved. That's stupid. again, you have no historical reference. If there was no NATO the iron curtain would have been the western shore of Europe (do you even know what the Iron curtain is?). Even today it stands as a barrier to Russian aggression. It's a line in the sand not to cross. Putin isn't stupid and he doesn't want WWIII. NATO is the only thing preventing that. He knows if he invades a NATO country it's on like Donkey Kong (bet you're too young to know what that means too).
As for Canada I don't give a damn what they do. Its a free country and an ally. That's the Canadian people's problem. Good to see they are rising up.
I really think you need to turn off cable news and crack a book. You're embarrassing yourself and your embarrassing us, your fellow conservatives.
The difference is that I view things from a libertarian/classical liberal perspective and you view things from a more traditional conservative perspective. There is definitely a spectrum of "conservatism" these days because all the classical liberals and libertarians have been moved politically into the conservative side. The AOC/Sqaud/Bernie bros have taken over the Democrat party, and for whatever reason the people who should know better haven't stood up to them, or at least not publicly.
The people who don't understand reality are indeed the millennials and gen z that think that if they give up their freedom the govt will take care of them like loving parents. The problem is, that by the time they realize this is the exact opposite, it will be too late. That's really what's happening in Canada right now, they were a bunch of nice friendly people with a nice friendly government that took care of them and gave them "free" everything so there was no need to place limits on power and have due process because the government was like a loving mother who would never hurt her child. Well, now if they served coffee to a peaceful protestor, their bank account got frozen. Canada is relevant, because, like you said, it's an ally and at least (formerly) known as a free country with a right to protest against the government. It's not good if the Prime Minister is able to freeze people's bank accounts for peacefully protesting because they disagree with him. You think with the way the Brandon regime has been trying to behave (thankfully mostly blocked by SCOTUS), they haven't been watching the outcome up there for more ideas of what they can try down here?
The anti-vax movement was considered a liberal movement and it was considered fringe. Until today when it became a conservative movement and has gone mainstream because classical liberals and libertarians don't believe that people should be forced to take medication they don't need or want. Whatever your beliefs on the covid treatments being a conspiracy or not, doctors have always been able to use generic drugs to treat things "off label", so why did the government have to step in and try to block this from happening? These decisions should be made between the doctor and the patient, the government stays out. Until the last two years this was a thought to be a sacred right protected by law. Hell, the HR dept in your company can't even legally view what medication your insurance paid for.
What you mention about the offshoring being un-restricted capitalism is a fair point, unfortunately, the elite will do what benefits them most. However, giving so much power to evil people (China) may not work out as well as they had hoped, especially if those evil people (China) can simply shut down a seize the factory if they were so inclined. Many haven't thought this through, but who knows, the time may soon come. I have heard some stuff about some in the corporate world starting to see the monster they have created and possibly doing some onshoring.
The point about NATO is really moot at this point. Since the Europeans decided to "go green" and buy their energy from Russia, they de-facto dissolved it already. Again, if they got to war, Vald can just wait till winter and freeze them out.
