I too, would have been happy to see some scheduling language in this TA, but believe in its present form, this TA will pass. The EB made a convincing argument, outlining the current state of contract negotiations with the IBT, and reluctantly I will probably vote yes.

Are they still trying to scare off new hires with that abysmal first year pay?

First year pay is like an article of Faith with management, AFAICT. I doubt that will change unless and until the hiring environment gets significantly more challenging. Which it well may.

some of our guys seem to think that voting this down will result in us getting a better offer in the short term, or that we will see the end of hotel lockdowns, etc. All we’d be doing is hotel lockdowns and mediocre schedules for free. Buys us some time, and hopefully we see some good numbers from some other carriers and the economy doesn’t completely tank Unfortunately, I think the economy is going straight gutter over the next 12 months. Also, not sure how generous the company will feel after giving the teamsters billions..

We’ve failed the EB and this is the turd they produce.

“Do the work of one pilot” nope, can’t be done…

“Fly your schedule” nope…too
much money to be lost.

I have lost all faith in our leadership, too cozy with the company. They failed to add anything of value to this fight..and why? Because we have failed them…reminds me of R Lee Ermey in FMJ

Still I cannot fathom why this was even given the time of day, sadly I think the reason is that the union knows what brown knows, we’re a social club from this point forward. The union now is a shadow of its former self.

I truly dislike our former president, he was a piece of work that probably cost the furloughed their jobs for a while, but at least he knew when to fight. This is just sad, and the “sell” they are putting on it it almost shameful.

“we can paint ANY car for $29.99” the more emails I get about how wonderful this is, the more I think this is a poop sandwich.

carry on….because we’re all screwed.

I'm open to discussion but it seems to me that the reality is that their hands are tied. I mean, you tell me: What do we potentially stand to gain if we "fight"? AFAICT, and again, correct me if I'm wrong, we're basically giving up at the most 6 months on the timeline to get more or less COL increases in pay and a better bargaining position when the time comes to negotiate a real contract. What am I missing?

I'm seriously asking. I'm new, and dumb. But I watched the videos and the EB seemed to make a fairly convincing argument to me.

Is it a turd? yes
Will it pass? yes
Why? cause we have nothing else

And they know it…that’s the problem that no one seems to see. We’re “neutered” and passing this they know they have us going forward. Pass this and just see why comes next…they’re just getting warmed up.

They KNOW they have a fractured “unwilling to do the tough work” union, and this is the result of that.

Carry on….

Timing is everything and I dont believe now is the time…but to your point, we have had many chances to step up and failed to do so.

What do you propose? I'm pretty ****ed about the lack of any improvements to scheduling, and so is everyone I have spoken to. But, concretely, what would you have the EB do? How do you picture it playing out better if we "fight"? If there's a rational path to doing better by rejecting the offer, I am all ears, but please make that case rather than just saying "this sucks". We all agree, it sucks.
