In my experience, the schedule is very similar to being on reserve at a regional 121, just all the time.

Disgruntled lol. You should really ask yourself why it crushes you so hard to see somebody not have undying love for NetJets, and really, just offering a counterpoint to the unrealistic sales pitching that goes on in this forum. Between you, Zebraspots and those conducting interviews, somebody has to insert a bit of reality. You are out here telling everyone they can make 260k their first year. Zebra saying 3 year upgrades are right around the corner. How come the narrative by some NJA pilots always has to be some fringe, unrealistic salary or that shiny new jets and quick upgrades are right around the corner?

No wonder people go to NJA expecting one thing, yet experiencing another...

During initial training you're on the CC72 schedule which pays $84k a year, then you can stay on that or transition to 7&7 which is $69k or 8&6 which is $80k. That's bare base salary. Add the "soft pay" and realistically you're going to make at least $100k 1st year."

As far as the 3 year upgrade, I've been here 18 months and around 250 below the last upgrade seniority number. There will be more captain bids this year and they're projecting 400 upgrades in 2023, so bust out the calculator app and your phone and do the math.

You have to embrace the chaos at NJA. Constant changes didn't bother me a bit, in fact I was frequently amused. I even had a few inflight diversions.
I turned down recall to USAirways in 2007. I upgraded to Captain at NJA later that year. I was a PIC on the Beechjunk. FDP would have been useless on 90% of our tours.

I can't blame the poster who left for F9. Being an airline pilot living in domicile and being able to drop/add trips is pretty nice. I commuted at USAirways for many years. CLT to PIT, DCA, BWI, BOS, & PHL. I hated commuting. That's why I wound up at NetJets. I loved the variety of flying and seeing a new airport almost every tour. I got a lot of reading done when riding the airlines.

I do agree FDP needs to be modified over the fairness issue. Either that or let new hires bid for equipment. 1st year Regional pay is now more than NJA not counting soft money. It's going to get harder and harder to hire and keep pilots.

Math was never your strongpoint… Among other things.

At best, you made a lateral move to what became a “larger regional” airline with Boeings and Busses.

Your 2015 seniority peer group is upgrading starting now… all of them will be captains next year if they choose.

Upgrade times are dropping rapidly and are now projected at 3 years. They will drop below that within the next 3 years following.

But you have your Airbus… and Sbarro at the food court. It’s all good. We all have what we wanted. Aside from that, however, you NEEDED the structure of an airline, albeit a small “regional major”. You need the schedule, the 10 cities you frequent, the Starbucks you know is between terminal A and B.

The variables at NetJets, the freedom… it was too much for you and created stress for you… and those you worked with and likely those we fly.

You moving on was likely one of the best things to ever happen for this pilot group and company.

Now… if you’d just embrace your choices. Leave the past alone and look to the future you’ve chosen at the company you now work.

I spoke with a guy retiring from a legacy a few months ago who wanted to get into corporate aviation. He said one of the places he was considering was NetJets. I can only imagine how much regret he'll have if he decides to make that move. I tried to warn him.....

I've spoken with many in similar situations. I simply told them the truth about the job and they all made other plans. This isn't a bad job, but it isn't easy and it is a lot more work than any of these pilots are expecting.

Did you not read what Minrest wrote as to why he continues to post here? Your cheerleading for NJA and slamming the airlines is just not where reality lives. He has almost for sure done much better almost every year at Alaska than he ever would or could have here. I guess if he got the upgrade this year and decided to do the 76 day schedule and extend all the time he could make more money than just doing a regular work line without playing any games at the airline, but that would require getting awarded all the soft pay that we have no control over. The airlines are simply better for most and the more you slam it and don't acknowledge reality, the more he will continue to post. I have no problems with his posts when he gets the facts right.
