Quote: I’d like to hear from someone currently in new-hire training as to how far out their “pay date” is in relation to hire date as well as the norm among classmates…anyone?

When I was a new-hire and there were no delays it was 14.5 months. That was when there were no training dept issues…
Well, I just told you.

Guy just started indoc this week and has a 9 march sim date, maybe 6 march..I cant remember. Add about 4 weeks and someone who started @1 Feb is done 10 April

HOWEVER, It was way longer just a couple of months ago. Just because a couple of classes in the winter are scheduled quicker means nothing for someone starting in say April just before summer.

It was a lot longer just over the fall 2022. But now the bus is about a 5 week wait to start training and I've heard the 73 is about 3 weeks after indoc. 2 month delay in yearly pay isn't terrible..but yes it should be your DOH. If regionals and every other airline can do it that way then why can't AA? So hopefully that and year 1 DC gets fixed.

If you want the best training pay go to United. Year 1 DC..pay date is your DOH and training pay is 90 hours at $95/hr.

Quote: For those of you that have moved on from an ACMI with home basing/gateway cities, how is the commute at AA? I am expecting 777CA training this summer at my ACMI, but have an upcoming interview at AA. Just wondering how its working out for those of you the have made the jump. I'm over circling the globe non-stop and 24 hr duty days. I, however, already commuted for 15 years at previous regional, so I know how that goes. S Florida or Charlotte are an option at some point down the road.

Are you guys happy with the jump? Thanks.

I am a former K4 captain and made the jump last summer. PM and I would be happy to give you a more level headed account of my time here so far.

Quote: Not arguing that second year pay shouldn’t actually start at the 12 months mark, but so far it’s 14 months and not the 18.
It wasn't 14 months for anybody hired in 2022, and if you think that is going to last for this year's new hires I have a bridge to sell you. But keep holding onto that garbage.

Not holding onto garbage, actually giving real time info.

Quote: 20 hour 4 days don’t exist unless you’re at United. At 5:15 ACD, a 4 day is 21 hours minimum.

Hybrid lines are great deals. Yep, I wish we could bid for them. Sounds like APA is negotiating for some sort of “blank” line bidding, where you could essentially bid to have nothing awarded and you’d be a free agent. That would go stupid senior.

I don’t have an issue with people complaining about AA. There’s a ton to complain about and a ton to improve upon. It’s annoying when people outright lie or use extremist hyperbole to try to make AA sound worse or better than it is. Posting things without context, saying absolutes like “every flight every day to every location is oversold so you can never non-rev, trip trading is so locked down that there are zero trades ever (as I have dropped all but a single 2-day for February), etc etc. There’s a lot of nuance out there, seniority and what aircraft/domicile you are plays a massive role in what’s achievable, etc.

The first year 401k and 13-16 month first year pay are complete BS. AA management should be ashamed. Like Delta and their lack of paying for new hire hotels, AA should fix those things with zero negotiating capital spent by APA.

I don’t think those that stretch the truth to make AA sound especially awful, with the goal of steering people away in hopes of enhancing negotiating leverage, are going to be successful doing so. But that’s just my opinion. Following the contact, not extending, not blindly following CCI, utilizing commuter miss, not becoming a CKA, etc all rank higher in terms of leverage, IMHO.
Delta has been paying hotels and uniforms for at least a year and a half.

To counter, I’m a June hire with a November classification date=16 months on year one pay.
