People should tell the truth. Not exaggerate or embellish. When you’re giving advice to someone who’s decision will likely be final for the next 30 years of their career, is it right to say, “hey it helps us in negotiations to deter new hires, even if we’re not exactly truthful”. Sorry I disagree. I’m the first one to point out our shortcomings, the mismanagement by AA execs and so on. However, what I won’t do is play some sick little game with some unsuspecting person’s future because I think it might put pressure on negotiations, sorry.
Yes there are better options out there for new hires. No we aren’t a regional with zero work rules working like slaves. There’s an area called reality, and that’s where I prefer to hang out.

Guys, as a new hire I have a question regarding that reserve stuff/days off:
My wife wants to move to Netherlands in 4 years from now (we also have European citizenship) and I’d like to know if is there any chance that with a 4 year seniority I can build my schedule to have 21/22 days off in the month (not in a row, of course)?
I’d be commuting from AMS back and forth to the USA and will get the base that gives me a better seniority (LGA most likely).
It might sound a crazy plan but depending on the days off I can get every month, it’d be feasible.

To do this you will have to be a wide body f/o, just because of the stage lengths that will give you the productivity that you need. LGA (JFK really) on the 777 gives you the most junior access to sequences like DOH and DEL that can give you a productive month with the most time off.

Just because you say he does?
Prove it or stop with the personal attacks.
Talk about an angry troll. Do you live in Below the Line and/or APA’s own forum? Something tells me you do.
I know…
you worked for Eagle for so long that you will forever hate this company. And I mean hate it. You flowed over, but you will continue to hate. I’ve known and suffered with angry crew room trolls like you. You are miserable and always will be.
Happy people look for reasons to be happy. Angry people look for reasons to stay angry. Lighten up man and gain some perspective in this world.

That being said I’m just spitting facts. Let the prospective applicants do with that info as they wish, but at least they have the info. Unbiased info too, as I very clearly stated I would absolutely consider coming here if you live in one of our bases and it’s not offered by others. Anything else bud?

Now: What was said that wasn’t true? Can’t really trade. True. No 401k year one. True. No pay raise for 15 months(at least). True.
You went and found 1 pilot with 18 days off and then ignored the explanation that it was an outlier and that we shouldn’t be telling new hires it’s realistic right away.
Our contract is lagging. That is a fact. We have one or two nice things like reserve call out and I guess SIN. Otherwise we are trailing…….by a lot. Year 1 FOs at our wholly owns make more than year 1 pilots at AA. Assuming an upgrade around 1.5 years at the regional an AA pilot will not catch up to a WO regional pilot in pay until year 3. If you count bonuses then it would take an upgrade for the AA pilot to catch the regional pilot.
This is a great career and my life is pretty good at AA. That said, sticking your head in the sand pretending it’s unicorns and rainbows here and then berating anyone who complains is just as big a lie as you are accusing others of.

Show me a post where someone at AA recommended a new pilot should commute to another company while living in an AA base.

Prove what? Where did I attack him/her personally? Not that it matters but I don’t have Facebook and rarely go on the line. Seems to me like you’re attacking me just as he did.

Whatever.
Absolutely, there are MANY serious shortcomings with this place in comparison to our peers right now,, but with that said, things can and do change. We can and will continue to press management’s feet to the fire in order to bring us in line with what DL (and hopefully UA) has achieved. Do not float. Do not pick up PM. Know your contract. Stand firm when CS or CT call you, etc. On and on.
But also maybe realize that in the grand scheme of things, this job - as jobs go - does not suck. If you or anybody thinks it does, then it’s time for a reality check.
For example, one guy on one of these threads complained about how long it’ll take you to actually qualify in the left seat after having been awarded it, and how many people are becoming dequalified as he put it - both issues as a direct result of AA’s backlog in training. Well, this is true, actually. However, from OUR standpoint, this is a good thing. When I upgraded for the second time a little over a year ago after the COVID problem caused me to lose my seat the first time, I actually spent my last month as an FO being paid as a CA. Winning. Fast forward and I’m now out 1-1/2 months WITH PAY because they were unable to schedule me into CQT in a timely manner, so again…winning.
I would not dare complain to my friends about how much my job sucks when they work harder than I do for much less than I make.
Perspective.
Should we work hard to better this place? Of course! But will I be continually miserable that I work here? No.
Sorry if that offends you.

You are the guy who posted some PHL FO got 18 days off in Feb. Talk about BSing people. I asked you to tell us why he got those 18 days off and you refuse to answer that. Basically dont post BS, thats all anyone is asking. The norm is 14 days off. Period. Our trip mix has gone way longer, goodbye turns and 2 days. That is a FACT. No more trip trading, that is a FACT. Average line value for the majority of line holders is 85 plus hours, that is a FACT
