Nothing better than seeing a pilot wish his fellow pilots go through difficult times... Clown

Not sure if he/she was really serious, but these FNGs are ridiculous.

Home Depot is hiring.

You had to sit reserve for a whole few months? Man that must have been tough Regional folks have it rough, getting $100K signing bonuses and having to sit reserve for a few months. Can you imagine the struggle?

CA here..... you know, I went from making $36 an hour at a regional (my second regional at that) and through begging, and pleading, got hired at Blue..... Making $50 an hour.

I had never felt so rich in my life. I guess I'm either:

A) old
B) crusty
C) out of touch

but man.... how things have changed...... I hope you get max $$$ wherever you land, but wow, do I feel out of touch.

EDIT: I'm now making almost 7 times that much, and I still remember how excited and proud and rich I felt making $50 an hour

Im sure I hurt your feelings. You kids are all the same. Anytime you hear something you don’t like it’s too hard on you. A dose of reality to get some sense of respect for those that have been around is what I’m saying. You may not see it but complaining about being on reserve for a few months may be as insulting to those that spent years on reserve as you felt about someone hypothetically wishing bad on his fellow pilots.

Let’s paint our faces together.

Thanks for all the positive msg but I only ask because I am very satisfied with the pay at the regionals and would more than happy stay here to raise a family, I understand a lot of you airheads thing this job is everything but I would rather stay at a regional and be able to see my family more instead of sitting reserve 6 states away for another 2 years.
P.S. just wanted to know how long are reserve times at B6

Reserve times vary on fleet. Age and class drops determine base and equipment. The 190 side reserve is much shorter in length compared to the bus. Maybe 2 months short call and another month of long call before a line. 220 probably will be stagnant due to the delivery issues and the fact everyone going to it got delayed 90 days for training. If you got that then people will just keep coming in above you. Airbus reserve is longer but it wouldn't be years in JFK.

I don't think all of them were commenting with malice. It's more so how the post came off. It sounded like a "I'm not super sure about Jetblue and want to be at a legacy and am currently having a good QOL so why come to jetblue". Have to realize that what we are experiencing hasn't and won't always be like this. A lot of these guys dealt with the industry after 9/11. 08 recession and lost decade. Years upon years of making terrible money with crap rules and contracts hoping one major would call. Right now it's the opposite for people getting in.

Advice I always give and take with a grain of salt of course. A lot of the regional raises are temporary. It won't last forever. All it takes is another recession, pandemic, insert whatever crazy event to flip the industry upside down. Where would you want to be stuck at and would you be kicking yourself in the butt if you passed over a job at a major because you just got a line and don't want to be on reserve again? Especially if a legacy does call you'll be right at the bottom and on reserve again.

Some of the other threads have better and more up to date reserve times. Best of luck.
