Also, PREF pass doesn't do crap at all, most guys don't know how it works. Pass pref only works with short call, and its really only good one day a month - the first day of the bid period, when everyone is at ZERO credit. Otherwise, the chances of having multiple guys in the same availability bucket, same RAP time, AND same credit is next to impossible.

"A lot of these guys dealt with the industry after 9/11. 08 recession and lost decade. Years upon years of making terrible money with crap rules and contracts hoping one major would call. Right now it's the opposite for people getting in."
Well said.
You had to live through it to really understand the limitions which came with it.

JFK CA is at least from what I can tell overstaffed. FO side understaffed. JFK CA open time gets gobbled up, this just isn't the case on the FO side.

Are you a commuter? If so, LCR may help your commute, but you're also first to get called. I'm JFK 320 CA and I've had to BEG to fly the past several months to avoid going to the sim for landing currency.

CJOs from legacies accounts for most current FO attrition. Historically you lost CAs mainly to retirement or medical. That may not be entirely the case now, but I’d bet that JB is losing damn few lineholding CAs to the legacies, though perhaps some fairly junior ones.

yep. We basically aren’t losing any captains at all except to retirement.
looking at the attrition list for 2023 there are only 3 pre 2019 hires that have left that haven’t been retirements.

I’m up to 21 days of work so far this year (including tomorrow, the end of a 3 day). Bidding M-Th was working really well but I started to get used a bit too much for my liking so I switched to T-F and it’s been mostly smooth sailing. For May, I had a 3 day on the 3rd-5th and then wasn’t used for the next two blocks of 4 days. Got hit again with another 3 day that started yesterday so I’ll be up to 31.2 credit for the month. I don’t do anything special or try to game the system, there just always seems to be more guys with less credit than me than there are trips that need to be assigned. Also, plenty of guys on CKS have been getting stuff on the DRO that I was certain I was going to get. 5 months into the year and I finally broke 100 credit total.
