Quote: The key here is if the managers get date of hire with seat protection until they can hold a captain's seat. I think any line integration would have to allow this concept. The high timers in mgt. do not have to worry about this problem. They would be captains, anyway. Most line pilots realize that date of hire is the best way.
They usually reffer to that as no bump and no seat flush. Should be do-able. The senior managers are already captain seniorty wise, and the junior ones are already captains anyway.

Quote: One thing is for sure...

If they would have been on our list during the '97 strike, they would have been scabs for sure,
If they were on our list in '97, they would have had an option to not fly the planes and still remain gainfully employed. they didn't have that option and so had to skulk through the alleyways and sneak around like the lowlifes that they were. I don't like the fact that they scabbed, but we'll take them in and live with it as we have done with the few other scabs in the IPA ranks.

As for future loyalties, I think that you might be surprised at where there loyalties lie. I don't see too many hired in recent years as flight standards people that are too happy. Last years raise really sealed it for a lot of them

What is the latest on manager integration into the IPA? It is a very rampant rumor everywhere (ASC, Gateways, and School House)

Actually, I am not Reed, but the real story is that we will be taking the seniority numbers right under the original IPX guys, because we have slaved for so many years building the airline into the 100 ton gorilla it is today. HA! HA!

The company is having a "Flight Qualified Only" meeting on Tuesday, August 14. It is called labor/safety training. Should be interesting.

Anything of intrest come from that meeting?

Quote: 20 hours and sometimes more! What is the definition of rest? I don't think that you will find one other than free of duty. Working in the office doesn't count as duty.
I believe it would be considered duty just like pilots are on duty when sitting in ground school. But I think it might be one of those things the local FSDO signed off on, kind of like how they allow us to use the QRH on taxi-out to clear an item. As far as I know, that is a no-no at other carriers.

767,
I don't have the reg in front of me, but I believe the reg says free of "any duty" with the carrier. I have in the past refused to fly with manglers that admitted they worked all day, then were called out to fly to ANC. I told them my interpretation of the reg and they didn't protest for more than 15 secs. YMMV
