My uncle Bill got hosed out of his retirement in the UAL debacle.

So... at the age of 61 he entered the corporate flying world.

He had flown Kingaires briefly in the seventies, and had some friends from the EAA, so before long he was free-lancing in the BHM area. One thing led to another, and he is now a full-time captain on a Citationjet and a Kingair 200. He works about 4 days a week, is home just about every night, and is making pretty good money.

Here's the important part: he's happier than I've ever seen him. He truly loves flying again, and absolutely digs the planes and the people he works with. Sometimes I ask him, "So, you miss jumpseating up to ORD to go fly big jets?" just so I can hear the stream of obscenities that always follow....

Man my internet intentions suck
Quote: Easy there...

Get antagonistic and some will hang around just for spite. The correct phraseology is "man..thanks for all your help building this company, and I hope you enjoy you next adventures..."

Remember--it ain't personal...
I wasn't trying to be antagonistic at all. My reading of the chicken bones comes out the same as his assessment every time I throw them. I was being honest. If I were turning 60 and didn't know which way the wind seemed to be blowing, I'd want to be informed, and my response was exactly the options I'd be considering.

I didn't mean it as "get outta my seat".....well....not too much

Shoot...there I go again. Let me rephrase....."What ALBIE said....and Huck...Dat's wut I'm talkin bout"

As long as UAV's dont wind up poking holes in my airplane, spying on me and invading our privacy (you know they will)... then I'll be happy. Wut-Ev

Happy S/O day George
Quote: Although I was looking forward to finally getting my FAA Flight Engineer certificate it looks like that is no longer in the cards. In any case the training department will be busy enough putting those age 60+ S/Os back in the Captain seat.

Guess again George!

My trusty ALPA calendar says your 60th birthday is tomorrow ... looks like you'll have a chance to get that Flight Engineer rating after all. And remember ... the only other seat in the jet that sits sideways ... FLUSHES!

I'd like my coffee black please ...

In case pouring coffee doesn't sound appealing ... I found this story of another George that might be helpful in your future job hunt (or maybe this was you ... it would explain a lot?)

Curious George Takes a Job

As stated in an interview, the book Curious George Takes a Job was inspired by a true story. A boy, whose name is not known today, was born in Hamburg in 1909 with Down's Syndrome. He was institutionalized by his parents, condemned to a life at the facility.
When the boy was 15, he escaped from the institution and fled into the city streets. Hungry and in search of food, he found the briefly unattended kitchen of a restaurant, where a cook found him playing with the food and eating it. The cook, intrigued, put him to work to clean dishes, and took him home that evening. Within the following days, the cook arranged with a friend to have the boy wash windows at an office building.
The boy's work went well at first. But in one office, he found colored paints. He used them to paint a mural on the wall of the office. The tenant returned to his office after a lunch break to find the boy busy painting, and he started to chase after him. The boy jumped out a third-story window, breaking some bones.
The story made local headlines. After several weeks of hospitalization, the boy was formally adopted by the cook, and he later became the star of an amateur movie. He was recognized in the coming years as a talented artist.

Wonder how much disability douuuuuchehunter will use in his effort to avoid training and "remain" in his current seat if the law changes.

Dumbazzes better be careful because they may find themselves on the outside looking in when somebody figures out that they really aren't in a seat after age 60 and their little plan will fail because they are no longer employed as a current, required crewmember.

Kind of an ironic catch 22 that the APAAD braintrust probably never thought about.

Remember, Memorial Day.

Remember, Sept 30th.

Keep believing your buddies at APAAD Douuchelicker, they really know what is going on.
