Quote: IM 38 years old and have had jobs from steel mills, slaughter housees to cleaning sewers in LosAngeles, so Mesa is a peace of cake. It all depends on your basis of camparisons, and how bad you want to reach your ultimate goal.
Being an airline pilot used to compare to being a doctor. Now JO has guys comparing it to working in a sewer. WOW. [bar lowered]

If I'm reading this correct, he is saying that working at Mesa is quite easy, when compared to shoveling ****.

Yet another coherent, and intelligent post from N2 about Mesa. We get it.

Just curious why you are so ripped up about Mesa. Did JO take your mom to a cheap dinner and try to nail her or something? Your vendetta for this airline is amazing, and I think most on here would agree with me on that.

Quote: As long as Mesa continues to offer major airlines with the least expensive commuter flying, they will continue to be the most competitive price wise and will continue to be in business. Major airlines do not care how management treats employees or anything else for that matter. All they care about is the bottom line. Mesa is able to offer the cheapest flying by screwing its employees. Mesa employees are the least paid in the industry. That is way they continue to be in business and will continue to do so. I think the employees of Mesa should stand up to the company and tell OJ and the rest of his team to f…. o…..
You are correct - major airlines certainly do not care how management treats employees, but they do care about how they treat their passengers. The big buzzward we have been hearing at DAL is how we want to establish a desireable "brand." Accordingly, management has been saying for months that we will reduce the number of connection carriers who fly our code, so as to have better quality control. They are not saying less connection flying (that is pretty much driven by fuel costs) just fewer carriers to divide up the flights.
Now what management says and what they do are not always the same thing. I don't think we would ever go back to only 2 or 3 connection carriers, it makes the connection carriers too valuable, and hence gives them more clout. During the Comair strike in 2000 DAL lost a ton of CVG feed and management does not want that to happen again.
I agree that cost is the most important factor but it is by no means the only factor.

Then bet your bile duct. and as for assumptions, it's not an assumption, just because you could not hack it at Mesa does not mean other folks cant either. You chose the best route for you...You quit! I never stated I was mad at the chief pilot either, you came to that conclusion, not me. as for the fast pace, Im doing it now Mr Joeshmoe. It amazes me how you pick and choose in my letter what to respond to. Thats your choice. You where not there with me, nor have you seen what I saw. You response says alot about you silly @$##$ response.

Quote: . . . in another year I will reach my next goal, and that is to fly Cargo for Atlas.
Why wait another year? Atlas is hiring. If you have 3 jet types, then you're clearly a Captain. Furthermore, Mesa currently has a 3 year seat lock for jet CA's, so, if you got the ERJ type and then went to the CRJ 3 years later, you must have at least 3000 JetPIC, likely more. If you went from CRJ to ERJ, then you're one of no more than a handful of guys at Mesa who's done this and is still there, and you'd have at least 5000 JetPIC, and are likely a IOE CA or in the Training department. You'd also have another 2000 hours or so of SIC @ Mesa if you were hired as a jet FO or another 2000 hours in a turbo prop, either a Dash 8 or a 1900. So, in total, you're a guy with over 8000 hours total time and over 5000 hours Turbine PIC, minimum. If you can't get on @ Atlas right now with that resume in the current environment, then you'll never be able to.

Quote: I went to Mesa. Why. I look at it this way, At least Im typed rated.. in three jets. I did not have to pay a dime for it.
You didn't pick all those types up from Mesa (Mesa never had 3 jets. Other than Republic Holdings, I'm not sure any 'regional' has ever had 3 jets on property). CRJ, ERJ, what's the 3rd type? I'd guess 73, like most of the RJ drivers who want to get on with Southwest, but you said you didn't pay for the type, so . . .

You're a minority, which, even if it hurts at some carriers (maybe), you've got to admit it helps @ many others too. You've got 3 jet types, and over 8000 hours TT, with 5000 jet CA time. There are TONS of guys with less than you getting on at every major (except American, but only b/c they're not hiring), NetJets, jetBlue, Spirit, World, Gemini, and Atlas - just to name a few. Guys with times like yours were going to Southwest, Fed Ex, and UPS last year.

There's got to be a reason you're still @ Mesa, a company that hasn't had vacation for CRJ pilots since before Thanksgiving. Have you been trying to leave? If so, there's got to be more to the story. You're resume is certainly a door opener at just about every pilot position I know of.

Touche. Seems like I wasn't the only one assuming that, but, go figure. Let me clarify that it wasn't that I couldn't "hack" it at Mesa. I left with about a month left to upgrade to go to an airline that treats me well, among many other reasons, which you being in the industry I need not explain. Don't get your panties in a wad when someone responds the way I did. You dumped your purse on the couch, not me.
Just curious where you are "doing it" if all these regionals turned you down?

We can tell from your posts (all 4 of them, noob) the kind of attitude you MAY have, it gives a lot of insight as to why you couldn't get hired at a reputable airline of your choice, especially one you were already working for. No one owes you a letter of recommendation, no one owes you a job...you base your entire experience on one chief pilot, and no one cares if he decided not to write you a letter, its his right, and his name that goes on the bottom. (I realize that you may experience things from Utah that you don't want to share, I think we all understand that). But to come on this board and rock the boat on such a hot subject like Mesa with your SECOND post, leads me to believe that maybe you're not exactly Mr. Sunshine...hard to tell, as we can only judge by what you type. But to come here and pull the race card and say that's why you're at Mesa so everybody needs to shut up...please.

We fell for it
Flamebait guys.

He's got 3 jet types from an airline with only 2 jets. Other airlines are racist, and he's defending the one that everyone in the regional forum seems to dump on for fun.

Just let this thread die, ok?

You got me, Mach.

Even so, it was pretty funny how you ripped that guy to shreds. I haven't laughed like that in a while.
