I believe the tide can be "turned" against these attacks on pilot salaries. However, it will take some leadership and a real plan. I'm not stating it will happen, only that it can.

It won't happen over-night, that's for certain. It will also take an understanding that even though a pilot wears a suit with a white collar and tie when at work, they are labor, pure and simple.

People with vision and dreamers have made this country great and will continue to do so in spite of people who see the glass half empty.
Continue in mediocrity and you will become mediocre.
Assume means to take for granted and to accept. You admitedly have resigned yourself to this premise.
You are and will continue to be a follower and we don't need people like that in the left seat of aircraft. At least not in any I would want to fly on.

One of the benefits that I enjoy now that I am outside of aviation is that I can afford not to always have a positive take on the industry. When you are totally invested in a cause you have no option but to try and see only the positive no matter how unrealistic it is. Wearing ruby slippers and wishing upon a star will not make you a Dorthy.

You and the handful of dreamers that are left can tap your heels all you want but the next generation is coming and are already braced for a life of poverty and sacrifice to be pilots. They wouldn't think twice about taking jobs at Delta or other companies at half the current already cut wages.

Given the dire situtation they were under, the negotiating committee did a respectible job....................which is to get the best deal "Under the circumstances".
They didn't take any further paycuts!
They still have some Scope protections.
Most importantly, I didn't see any more give on Duty/Trip rigs.
Protected JR folks with NO furlough clause.
Were able to get a respectible B-Pan/401 K match............. It Doesn't help the Senior Guys but I beleive they all knew and were expecting the A-plan is going to be terminated anyway.......negotiations or not..the company is still in Bankruptcy.

Thank goodness for dreamers. I live amongst our nation's most creative dreamers. If it weren't for them, this internet that we're yakking on might not be here. Richard Branson is a dreamer. Everyone said he was crazy.He hasn't done too badly and he continues to dream about space airlines, etc. Go Richard, when can I book a flight?

Your negativety on this subject has been very will document and I need not say anything further in that regard.
I would point out though , many people on the opposite side of the debate have suffered and died for the privlege you have of expressing your opinions on this forum and far to many did't have the opportunities you have and continue to have.
It seems to me that its not fair to those that fought hard for benifits , wages and workrules and then just resign ones self to the status quo. You may think this attitude is looking at things with rose color glasses and your entitled to your opinion . But wearing rose colored glasses has more appeal to me than blinders.
I'm sorry your jaded toward this industry most of us love. Hope you can find your calling before its to late.

I didn't see a no furlough clause, just some changes to the mechanism required to furlough. The biggest thing hurting the junior guys (besides pay/benefit cuts) is the lack of progression. With few mandatory (age 60) retirements in the next few years plus no growth aircraft (except perhaps the 100 seat aircraft which the company wants to get IF they exit BK and IF they get financing), the junior guys are pretty much stuck where they are for years to come. And that's assuming there isn't going to be anymore downsizing. Then there is the potential of a merger. Whoever picks Delta to merge with will proabably have a more senior pilot group since many of the age 50+ guys at Delta left early. That doesn't bode well for the guys at the bottom. In bankruptcy, no one comes out ahead except for the lawyers.

I agree with you that the negotiators seem to have done a respectable job....under the circumstances.
