I was just in MIA TC and no mention of furlough. There was a mention of a class in late Dec and same pattern as last year. No/little hiring latter part of year, TC instructors fly 4Q and all returns to "normal" after new year.

One more new hire classes for all 2018. That's 5 months with no new hires ?

This could be the last class for 6+ months. Meaning if hired today. You would be looking at 5-6 years for a junior Captain slot if you're lucky.

Given what's going with our CBA negotiations. Furlough talk is standard playbook stuff.

Same thing happened this same time last year in order to get all Check Airman back on the line for the 4th quarter due to your illustrious, secretive/not so secretive “BOOT” and “SHOP” campaign!

You're greatly mistaken if you think flights departing ON TIME and pilots waiting around for ground transportation caused the company to go outsourcing.

Outsourcing is what an organization does when it's totally mismanaged its growth, has more work than it can handle and Not. Enough. Crew.

What you've provided here is what engineers call "draw the curve, THEN plot the points." In other words: B#LLS#IT.

Guess you were not around for the creation of AACS, GSS, and the Polar purchase. All being used to furlough a few hundred Atlas guys during negotiations and they were happy to take on the flying.

I would argue that one was clearly a union busting tactic. The other, is proof that management's grip on the operation is slipping.

One is a pure control move, to divide and conquer.

The other, is management giving up control to other organizations in order to keep their heads above water. All because they had (have) planes parked due to not enough crews.

Difference between now and a couple weeks ago is that now we have two planes parked for mx. One, a wrinkled 767, and the other a 747 with belly damage due to blown tires.

I hear there may be some fallout from the recent Check Airman meeting just concluded in MIA. No promises but there appeared to be talk about a bargaining offer potentially being proposed by management as a catalyst, or at least as an opener/proposal to a CBA. Seeing is believing...

Quite possibly true however you could say this is the "beginning of the end" as in, could be a long way to go still. There's a lot of horse trading on the details (better work rule A in exchange we'll give you relief on work rule B) and quibbling over the legalese of the CBA. But yeah, good news if true just don't hold your breath as it could be months to a TA at minimum.
