Nothing is wrong with P&W engines...it is about commonality with the rest of the fleet.

I just think that any airplanes the we actually buy are likely to be GE-powered, not P&W.

Opinion only...having operated GE-powered 747 Classics, and 747-400s, since 1999, I think it is a better fit for us. And yes, I do also have time in P&W-powered DC8s, and 747 Classics.

JonnyK,

Pretty close. Global parked all their MD-11s. The only airplanes left are 2 World 744s and the NAA 767s.

The Atlas CEO has expressed publicly that Atlas wants to get into the Charter pax biz in a big way. Absorbing the Global assets would give you guys an instant turnkey Charter Pax business.

The other thing that would do for you is negate the downside of training/hiring issues in a start up deal. You'd have qualified crews and airplanes in place. There has been a persistant rumor that Atlas wants an East Coast base. JFK is perfect for that because it reduces the travel costs for positioning crews where the planes are.

Airplanes. Crews. Established base. Global dumps the airplanes/crews Atlas doesn't want.

Or as the said in Casablanca: "I'm shocked, SHOCKED to find there's gambling going on."

744,

I wouldn't get hung up on the engine issue. Taking Global's turnkey charter pax ops would save enough money that Atlas could afford the required parts bins until they could swap out the airplaned for like powered ships.

Yeah, like B777-300ERs!! I'm up for that...my 3-year (equipment lock) clock is already ticking and into the 6th month without even getting near a 767...

Sorry to butt in, that's not an accurate statement.
