How did I know you would post something on this thread. You are a joke.

Jepp binders and roommates? That sucks, when it was just ASA I had my own room (suite and plasma T.V.) binders were issued to us in basic indoc. Granted I studied for about an hour every night but I found the training to be tons of fun and quite low stress throughout. Sim's are a different story, nail those flows/profiles boys and girls!

Holy Crap! Times be changing again. A long time ago, guys paid for their training and bunked up in hotels. Then training became free and we got our own room in a nice hotel for 3 months with free breakfast, and free snacks during the evening. All the binders were supplied back then as well. Looks like we are going back to the good ole days. Hopefully the union with throw you a few lunches.

To the contrary...nothing has changed. This is status quo at XJT, and until the operations are merged, its silly to imply this is a sign of some kind of new standard at ASA.

Congrats on training with XJT.

Dress code is business casual... if you don't know what that is, please Google it. Do not wear jeans, except on Fridays (although I think they got rid of that last time I went through).

Show up on day 1 willing to learn with a notebook and pen. You might want to have note cards avail in your hotel room, or make friends with somebody who has a car.

Things to study before hand... the limitations you need to know are the ones in the limitations sections with the double-line squiggly box around it (you will know when you see it). Also study your flows from the white binder, and your expanded flows in the CFM.

Good luck, and don't ever be afraid to ask a question.

Study the limitations you can understand, you dont need to know everything when you show up. You honestly could wait to start anything until day 1. Week 1 is FOM, so basically you have a week and a weekend to study limitations. The FOM stuff is just rules and regs, listen and you wont have any issues. Maybe look over the stuff that was talked about each day, in the evening. The program is designed for the slow learners, so relax and take one thing at a time. Study limitations first, and then slowly learn the memory items, cause you wont understand some of them until systems.

Good point. There is no benefit to rote learning if you going to have to understand it at some point. Learning out of sequence can be referred to as negative learning. It only causes problems in the end when you have to unlearn things to learn them again. If that makes any sense.

I think the author of the welcome letter emphasizes this.

Congratulations for those in their first airline job, one thing I suggest is try to study with groups after class or during breaks. It really helps to understand the material specially the systems portion.
