It works out to about a 75 hr guarantee using APCs payscale and that's it. They weren't going to tell anyone. It would have just shown up on your next check but the check airman found out and threaten to resign their letters if it happened so they postponed it for a month but told all of us "it will happen get used to it".
Also they took away a week of PTO and changed how they get paid for vacation so it's only worth 2 hrs/day and made everyone an employee in the state of Fl regardless of where you live so now they have to file two tax returns.
It has seriously gone downhill in the last two months. The new president who was at Sky King said "he doesn't care if everyone leaves this is how it's going to be".
Hopefully everyone leaves.

Quote: "...but we do pay more than any regional airline..."

Just as an example at how low our pay is:

Miami Air first year pay is $41.14
$41.14 x 70 hr guarantee = $2,879.80
$2,879.80 x 12 months = $34,557.60 gross pay for first year

Endeavor first year pay is $25.00 (*as per Airline Pilot Central)
$25.00 x 75 hr guarantee is $1,875.00
$1,875.00 x 12 months = $22,500.00
Retention BONUS = $20,000.00
Gross pay for first year = $42,500.00

I know we have the opportunity to make some extras here, but that's assuming no extras at Endeavor either. Apples vs Apples.

*Food for thought*
Its funny you mention Endeavor, that is the company I left to come here.

You are including a retention bonus which goes away after 3-4 years I believe and forgetting that their pay scale tops out at $37/hr at year 4. Also keep in mind that bonus is taxed at close to 50%. Not to mention several other draw backs to working for a regional airline.

They are not even in the same ball park as Miami Air.

I doubt I am one of the chosen, I bid stand by and get the luck of the draw. But I have had some amazing layovers in Ireland, Greece, Bulgaria, Spain and Germany. Plus spent 2 months in the Netherlands in which I was able to bring my significant other with me. I don't think I would have been able to do that at Endeavor.

I don't know what their upgrade time is... but my point is that they get paid more GROSS than new hire pilots here. So when you say that no regional pays more than us, I wanted to show you they do. I don't care what the hourly rates, bonus, etc are... I just care what the take home check says. I have friends at the regionals that make more than some of the pilots here.

I will say that the layovers we have now are much crappier than what they were years back. The AMS TDY is nice for some, and there's a reason so many get junior manned out there too. It's not everyone's cup of tea.

I think it's great you can see the good points here, but the bad far out weigh the good in my opinion. As Natca says, the other Majors and Legacies are far beyond what Miami Air pays and how they treat their crews. It's all what you're looking for I guess...

btw- how's that 401k match working out for you?

True! But they're not "pickins", as in, it's not like you can reach out and grab any of them. They have to you actually call you, schedule an interview, and offer you a job. For many of us, that just isn't happening.

This was my point. People think coming here will make them more marketable so that they do get that call?? I was just trying to make a point for those that are looking at coming to Miami Air to make sure they do their homework before they sign on the dotted line here. Coming here is not necessarily the best move for some if they are looking to go to the big boys after here. Guys are leaving left and right for a reason- and it's not because they love working here. (When a company looses top level employees in all departments, that should say something about "sinking ship").

We've had a couple guys go to the legacies from here, but it seems they all had connections of some sort. The majority of guys leaving are throwing in the towel with this place and are leaving for places like Spirit, Frontier, jetBlue or even regionals. Both Captains and First Officers have had enough! Considered a "lateral" move in the past maybe, yet when you talk to them now it's a HUGE step UP from life at Miami Air today. That should tell you how things are here from the outside. The massive hiring they are trying to do now is to compensate for the huge group of guys who left after having had enough of this place.

Just do your homework before you come here. You won't get rich, you won't build time, and you will spend a lot of time deadheading around the world/country fatigued.

One of my favorite things I've heard here over the years... "I'm tired of being tired!"

For those interested in a Miami 737 gig... consider this:

From the Eastern page.....

Anthony201, they were just one example.
Compass is another. First year pay is $25.00/hr. 75 hr guarantee. That comes out to $22,500. Plus the $10,000 sign-on bonus. So first year at Compass you make $32,500... BUT- they are upgrading guys in less than a year... so those guys are pumping up to $66/hr during their first year. I bet when you look at the gross, those guys are also making a higher GROSS number than our first year guys here.
So at Compass you'll make more $$$ and get 121 PIC time at a normal rate within a year. Not including the other "perks" that we don't give- KCM, ability to commute, travel benefits,.... just to name a few.
Compass will continue to have guys picked up by the Legacies, so they will continue to upgrade.

Until the guys here decide that they should be paid more, and continue to tell themselves that we are better than regionals because we are "charter", we will continue to be way underpaid in all aspects of the contract.

Miami Air is not better than the regionals....

Just the facts of life.

At Xtra we are told that our pay is based off of Miami air because they are a premium charter airline and since we are working towards that we can't be on par with them yet. So know that there are others looking up at Miami air.

Hate to nitpick but it's not really taxed at 50%, that's a big tax misunderstanding.

It's withheld at the percentage assuming you make that amount of money every two weeks. Since you don't make that amount of money every two weeks, when you file your taxes at the end of the year you will get it back.

Unfortunately your right. Just go to a regional with a quick upgrade. The flying at a regionals is not nearly as cool as Miami Air, but I can't imagine you could afford to do much with your gf or significant other in AMS at 45-50k/year.

Especially if your unlucky enough to have any kind of student loans.
