Can you post the details of the new TA? Is that what's currently shown on the APC profile (I hope not)? Either way congrats...

Whats on the APC profile is correct. But we improved in a lot of other areas besides just the pay scale. Need to keep in mind we are a 7 airplane airline that did not make much of a profit in the past few years.

And this is why things will never change. People are willing to accept the logic of "being a small carrier" and the fed information of "did not make much profit in the past few years".

This TA passed for one and one reason only....... training contracts are VOIDED. Training is going to have to step it up, because the resignation letters are going to start piling up!!

Even with this TA, we are still bottom of the barrel.

The APC profile is current. It already shows all the "improvements" we got with this TA. The TA passed because everyone with less than three years wants out and this TA gave them a free exit. The passing of this TA has nothing to do with actually getting anything great. The guys stuck here at the top got some more cash, and the guys who want out got their training contract terminated. You can still make more cash and have a better life at most of the regionals right now. Yup- the regionals are still better then us.

Total joke!!

Miami73, I'm not sure who you are but if you work at Miami Air you might guess who I am.

If you hate it so much you could always leave. This contract was the most we could get, unfortunately it is true we did not make much in the way of profits and raises are generally taken from profits. Our options were to drag this out another couple years in mediation hoping Miami Air survives or take this.

Like you said you can make more a lot of other places and if that's what you want you should take your own advice. We will never make that kind of money here unless we expand.

By the way, not all of the improvements are listed on our profile. Our work rules improved tremendously with this new CBA and I am glad it passed.

After observing this forum for a long time, I finally can't keep quiet anymore and had to sign up so I can respond to some of these negative comments.

First of all, I have to thank anthony210 for his hard work and effort along with the rest of our union for finally pushing this contract through. And +1 on your last comment!

I came from the regionals to Miami Air and I love it here. If you're a South Florida based pilot sick of commuting, Miami Air is a lifesaver. The quality of life is great and thanks to this new contract, the money is great. Of course other 737 operators pay a lot more, but for the quality of life, I'm very happy with Miami Air's pay especially with the new contract's increases.

It's not for everyone, and it is what you make of it. But if you're looking for a 737 job that will fly you around the world, make good friends within a small company, have a variety of different types of flights, and your commute being a drive to KMIA, then Miami Air is for you. If you live in Chicago, Dallas, New York, then go to a regional. If you're more interested in flying a regional jet than a 737, then go to a regional. Just don't sit on this forum and bash Miami Air if you don't even work here or know what life is like here. I'm not going to bash the regionals even though I didn't enjoy my time there, everyone has their own thing that works for them.

But I can tell you, as a Miami Air pilot, I'm very happy to call this my airline and make a career here.

Let's see what you think of this place after you've been here for longer then probation.... Nobody here says they are happy to call this their career airline- nobody.

I was at MAI for over 5 years. Now I'm at JetBlue. Are u seriously calling it your career airline? I also live in Miami. Something isn't right with you. Commuting is better than MAI commercial flying to your destination, any day. Wait until you 3 leg to Boston out of FLL. Or limo to MCO, TPA, Etcccc.
Flying the 737 vs a regional? Hahahahah. You think anyone cares about what plane u fly , when u are getting poorly compensated? I flew the 737 since 1999 until 2011 before I came to the blue. It didn't benefit my family at all. Now, I'm home every night, drive to work just like u claim MAI is about. You're gone for dayssss, back side of the clock flying, limos everywhere, 300 hours of flying a year if lucky. Your 737 type rating isn't any good if u don't have the time on the plane. Again, don't settle for mediocrity. Don't let MAI tell u that you're a special type of pilot because u fly etops on a 737 all around the world. Almost all the captains at MAI with a couple of exceptions, are there because they can't get hire anywhere else. They are scabs from eastern or have DUI, violations, skeletons ,etccc on their closets that MAI covers for them, including check airmen. You have no idea about what u are talking about. You'll learn the hard way when u get to fly with some really incompetent captains. The only reason the TA was passed, because they can't find pilots. Ask Miguel Martin what are the background of the pilots they are picking up. By the way, I was in the training dept . I know exactly what kind they hire. MAI isn't a place to be proud to work for. Remember, if u don't fly 200 hrs within 12 calendars month, airlines won't consider u. That my be the case at MAI where u hardly fly.

LMAO

I have been here just shy of 3 years, no skeletons in my closet, no DUIs, not a scab. I came to Miami Air after spending 4 years at Colgan/Pinnacle/Endeavor and before that flying 135 freight.

While I may or may not consider it a career airline. I have thus far enjoyed my time here for the most part. Every airline will have problems and you should obviously consider Miami Air's problems before coming here. For me, other than the pay, I love the lifestyle. If it gets old then I will move on. What I won't do is lurk on a thread about an airline I worked for 6 years ago and complain about it.

As far as compensation, it is what it is. We will never pay what JetBlue pays, if that is what you are looking for then you are in the wrong place. Perhaps one day if we grow, we can change that but right now its just not in the cards.

This new CBA fixed a LOT of problems we had before. The pay scales are not great, whatever. Like I said if that is all you are looking for then you probably should move on because we will never get paid what major airlines make.

A lot of the negative stuff here is being greatly exaggerated. Yes we do limo, I get a limo somewhere maybe once every couple months. Commercial flights with crazy connections? Not often, most of the time its a non stop or maybe a connection in DFW if they are sending me out to somewhere west. Obviously sometimes you will have to connect if they are sending you somewhere that a non stop flight from MIA/FLL does not exist. Middle seats? So far in my time here it has happened exactly 1 time on a short 2 hour flight to CLT(and middle seats are no longer a thing in the new CBA). Gone for days? Max is 7 days unless you agree to extend or bid for it. Most of my trips are 3-5 days. Back side of the clock flying? Sure it happens, but I fly just as much during the day as I do at night. I spend on average about 15-16 days at home. 12 days off plus a couple 30 hour breaks at home. We have new lines that actually give you 14 days off if you bid them.

The only thing that you said that was really true was the flight hours. You will fly about 200-300 hours per year. Just about every supplemental 121 charter carrier has the same problem. I have managed to do 350 per year thus far but that is because I bid for the Amsterdam TDY for past couple years. Which by the way if you enjoy spending time in Europe is a great experience and something that we do every summer for 2 months.

Most of the Captains here do not have skeletons in their closet, we have like 1 scab left on the seniority list and a couple in management. So please quit saying most of us are scabs, that simply is not true and you know it. It is true that the top half the CA list are older and thus don't want to start over but that does not mean they "cant". For the most part we have very knowledgeable and competent Captains who do a great job. Obviously sometimes there are personality conflicts but that happens at any airline.

I am sorry if some are really not enjoying their time at Miami Air and I am glad those that did not left and found something they do enjoy. It is not for everyone, just like the majors/LCCs/regionals are not for everyone.

You didn't read carefully what I wrote. I didn't call u a scab. Go back and read what I wrote. MAI is a dump. It is what it is. Most of the good captains are gone. Very few good ones are still at MAI because they have their own businesses or else. Most of MAI captains are incompetent , not all, it's a fact. Again, go back and read carefully before u answer. Most of management are scabs or do have skeletons. U just don't know about it. If u have a family, MAI is not the place to get flying experience or a career place. Too bad u don't like to hear the truth. There is issues in every company, but MAI is a dump. With guys like Miguel, Kurt, Jeoffrion, Ross, Denning, etcccc, it will be a dump.
How can u settle when almost every legacy or major airlines are hiring. By the way, I did enjoy my time at MAi and got to fly with great people. That has nothing to do with the place being a dump. When most of us went through flight school and college and paid our dues to be where we're at, MAI was not your dream job. Don't fool yourself by saying that the majors are not for everyone. We all want to make it there. It's not easy, that's why we don't all make it. Some of us have lucky to get an opportunity. I never flew for a regional like u did, so I can't speak about it. After almost 9 years at Copa airlines, my only opportunity was MAI because no one was hiring at the time. I flew fish and bush flying on an islander for $250 a month. I don't consider myself better than anyone. But to consider MAI as a career airline after all the sacrifices u make, something isn't right. Some get their parents to pay for school, I didn't have that . Still paying for it. MAI sure doesn't compensate enough for me to cover my educational expenses.
Good luck
