Why in this day and age would anyone sign a training contract with anybody?

Why isn't XO a good place to be for the long term? I understand the pay is low (for now), but with guy/gals leaving for "the legacies", I would assume it would be a short stay in the right seat. Is there a bigger than usual management vs. pilot struggle here? Are there any thoughts about the future of the company? Most people I talk to seem bleak on that topic, I just want to know why.

I have always been hesitate to go to a company or send anyone there unless I can determine why employees feel a certain way about a company, especially if its it not warm and fuzzy. I have had my share of nightmares on elm street with certain companies.

I gave up my seniority number in 2007 at USAir at the behest of XOJet. In hindsight it was a major mistake.

I was able to get hired in 2008 by United; but I heard from the chief pilot about it. Thankfully I now work there.

XOJet insists on scheduling crews using a "rolling rest" schedule. It's illegal. I know for sure because I was a POI at the FAA for 135 operations.

Are there any other ways of getting an interview at XOJet outside of knowing someone in the company? I keep my resume updated with them and see them still advertising that they need pilots. ATP MEL, 4000+ total, 3800+ turbine, 3500+ PIC, line/instrument check current. I would think I'm at least somewhat competitive to at least get a call.

Sounds to me like you are competitive for a major airlines job, too.

This policy, or really lack of policy, is going away thanks to our new VP of Safety. Things are improving...finally.

When I met with the recruiters at WAI I was tough on them about these rules and how they follow them. Either all the recruiters had the same talking points or the company is doing a good job of not violating them. That was a big concern when looking at a 135 company. I was actually very impressed with XOJET and if they paid a bit more wouldn't have a problem working for them for an extended period. Long term, the money just isn't there and they will only be a touch and go for many.

That's great to hear! My experience is several years old, so keep that in mind.

XOJet would beat gaining experience at a regional. If rolling rest is no longer an issue I stand corrected.
