I'm a regional airline pilot looking to make the move to the corporate world. I wanted to take the corporate route initially after flight school and instructing, but the regionals were hiring heavily at the time back in 2007, and all the corporate operators wanted time on type.
I've had XOJ on my radar for a while now and now that I've accomplished one of my goals of making captain at an airline and building on professional career I'm am ready to make the switch.
My stats:
Currently a regional airline captain
FAA ATP
FAA Mechanic Certificate A&P
FAA CFI CFII MEI
8,100TT
6,400 Transport category jet (5,060 SIC;1,340 PIC) roughly
The rest is flight instructing time.
Will I be over looked as being too qualified?
Also, can one live in Toronto, Ontario as an acceptable base?

Well...today it's still an issue but much less so than back when you were here. Higher up mgmt has finally had their eyes opened to this issue and it sounds like it is being addressed. Of course, something like this doesn't get implemented over night...
We've currently got the best CP/ACP combo the company has ever had, and things have definitely changed for the better. As our CEO says...it's a process.

Airline types are black and white when it comes to something being legal or illegal... Part 135 management does not like it when you use your brain and question grey areas. It messes with their devilish plans to fly you 24/7 with no rest.

This is either old or bad info. We've hired several 121 folks in the past few months...mostly from the regionals and retired 121 guys. Yesterday's group of 4 interviewees had 2 121 candidates...

Current pilots:
I Have some interest in the company. I'm currently at a regional but I've got a corporate 135 background on a Citation and King Air. The biggest reason I came to the airlines was because I wanted a little more consistency schedule wise where as my last 135 I was always on call and to really boost my flight time. I feel like I'm competitive enough now to apply to XO so I'm trying to gather as much information about the company as I can before applying. I'm also using an internal rec so before he goes out on a limb I really want to make sure I am making the right choice in applying. He seems to really enjoy working there and doesn't have much negative to say about the company, I believe he's been there about 2 years now. If there are some pilots who would be willing to share your pros and cons I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
