APA was able to achieve in a few weeks with U management what they couldn't achieve in half a decade with AMR. At this point, I see an amazing amount of optimism brewing. Regardless of what Horton & Co. say now, I think the game is over.

Imagine a competitor coming in and winning over your employees in weeks. Still a long way to go, but I can't recall such an easy outside corporate coup in any industry like this.

That says a lot about how completely out of touch management has been with their core asset for so many years. What a colossal blunder. The only way Horton can keep AA is to force it and that will alienate the employees to such a degree, I think no one will back them at that point. It would be the first "hostile takeover" of a company by it's OWN management.

IMO, Horton had it all before him on 11/29, but blew it.

Quote: This at least gives the two ( three really ) pilot groups the -opportunity- to return to a career with some potential and build a successful enterprise. If they can manage some give and take, the upside could be worth it.

It would sure be nice to see labor face palm managements attempt at running the bankruptcy rape job play. That could set a precedent in the industry that would benefit everyone.
Yep, like Horton, now it's Parker's turn. Let's hope he's learned not only from the past, but from Horton's mistakes as well.

I'm rooting for him and we shall see.

The AMR BOD will not give the keys to it's Ferrari to Parker without warning. Put a scratch on the paint and you're gone. I'm sure Parker is aware of this. He will deliver, or else!!

For the last decade the BOD has been no where to be found while Arpey either slammed into every street pole in the street or ran it off the road.

The BOD doesn't really get a say. There are 9 creditors that are running things. The unions are 3 of the 9, and the PBGC is another. US has deals with those 4 already. 1 more and they have a majority of the creditors onboard.

I agree. What I tried to say in simple terms is that Parker has done his homework and has conceived a viable business plan moving forward. If this is the case, it wouldn't take much to convince the remaining UCC that HIS plan is better than Horton's.

AA a Ferrari? More like an Edsel in need of new tires, some bondo and a tune up, but hopefully the USAir deal will be the start of those repairs.

If nothing else, these unions publicly poking AMR in the eye by lining up behind USAir sends a message to the BOD, the creditors and all involved with the BK process where the "rank and file" think their future lies. And it ain't with the AMR crowd.

And T-hawk..."100% safe"? You really are in another world.

You're right I am, I guess math and percentages are a challenge to some.

Agreed. AA is definitely not a 'Ferrari' in any sense of the word--- financially, operationally or performance-related.

Your next point is even more accurate; AA unions going to US management is certainly not a ringing endorsement of Horton, the BOD or their bankruptcy plan.

I'd expect Horton to continue his attack on AA employees undaunted. I assume management will be in court Monday to proceed with their annihilation of labor. They won't learn from this or adapt as it's really all about them. Apparently, they believe THEY are AA and not the employees.

On a side note, they've got the local pols stumping for them claiming the local economies will be better off if AA stays in Texas and exits BK stand-alone, yet missed the fact Parker will keep the AA brand, remain in DFW and save more jobs. Actually, they didn't miss that, but since this is just about maintaining power and merging when THEY want to so they can personally profit, who cares about truth and reality ?

Looney Tunes.
