Quote: I had submitted my app Sept. 15 2018. Had first interview in DFW first week in Oct. I recieved a TOL first week Nov., background/finger print request etc. turned in two days later. My check ride was scheduled and completed in December and received my FOL before Christmas. Merry Christmas it was. I started in January, Your mileage may very.
So far so good. Waiting for a Strings date... to say there is plenty to learn is an understatement.

Short version: I do not think the background check should take too long or hold you up.
Sorry BizJet I was replying to your post about how long will background checks take..... your post went AWOL.

Submitted app September 2018? Time traveler or Typo? I’m sure you meant 09/2017?

Yeah, that's odd. Thanks for replying anyway. I'm glad it won't take as long as the stories I've read about. Sent you a PM.

Quote: I was hired as a 12, promoted to 13 three days after returning from flight training(14 months from hire), promoted to 14 2.5 yrs from hire. And there is nothing special about me other than I was there, I was qualified, and there were openings. The opportunities are there for GA OPS inspectors.
Curious how you got a -14.... we have no GA 14's in ours....

Quote: 11 is about 65K, half is 32.5K, that’s all you are making at airlines? I thought first year was closer to 40-50?

Be wary, getting past 12 could take longer than you think, but the overall trend is attrition, so that helps.
I would agree - and that's one of my major beefs about the agency. They never sit down with applicants, you have to get your info from a place like this.

Supposedly my office is hiring another GA Ops guy. The current staff barely have enough complexity to hold -13, so the new guy isn't going to get any complexity (short of someone retiring or quitting). I doubt they've told him he'll be stuck at 11 or 12 for a while.

The office hiring me has a lot of complexity for their current staff. One guy is sitting at 14, isn't even a FLM and being pulled in 20 different directions.

Hey guys! I have my GA-ASI check flight scheduled next month. I have been through the entire thread and found lots of information about it. Any PM's would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

And there are good 14 positions and bad ones. Good QOL is one or a few operators with an assistant and CMT that consists of more than just 3 people, this usually allows for more than damage-control and actually working towards aviation safety. Bad 14 positions is where they lump all sorts of complexity together and you end up with 20 or more operators that you can in no way do the appropriate surveillance and CMT management with, so you end up forever chasing your tail and operating in damage-control-mode. CMO offices tend to be the former, while FSDO offices tend to be the latter, but there are FSDO offices where the former is true as well.

How quickly does DFW reschedule checkrides when canceled for weather? The weather isn't looking good for next week. I want this to be done with, so I can get started and not kicked down the road endlessly. I hate to make it this far and the hiring office change their mind.
