And he assumes that those "savings" will not go directly into the pockets of upper management. He must be new to the airline world.

Quote: I don't see why I get flamed so bad for supporting a contract valued at the same as the Delta contract. We can either make the same pay rates as they have at Delta and get the same crappy scope (bad idea), or we can take slightly less on the pay rates and get better scope (70 seat limit). I vote for option #2.

Delta is our biggest competitor and our contract should be in line with theirs. These proposed rates are better than American and US Air, our next two biggest legacy competitors. Pay rates don't matter if you don't have a job. You may loose your job if scope is relaxed even further, or if the company is so uncompetitive that it needs to cut "to become profitable."
Look up the term "pattern bargaining" and check back, I'm sick and tired of guys who live life on their knees.

BELOW "industry standard pay" (< Delta)+WORTHLESS SCOPE (76 seats)+NO LONGEVITY for furloughs+PAY BAND 767 with 747 (really?)+...= NO!!!!!

Look BEYOND the $$$$ people!

I don't care if they pay me $150/hr for 2nd year FO... if I don't make it to year 2 or three, or there's no airplane to fly 'casue it's been "scoped out", who cares?
Yep, this is not even a raise for CAL!!! If you look at CAL rates APR. 05 and account for 3% inflation, this is a PAY CUT!! No way I vote yes.

By Smizey paying himself largely..(in line with Andersons?)...not to mention the hugh checks he and Glenno got for "thinking up" this merger....it has lead me to believe that the well from which money is drawn is deep. I'd like to be paid by the same standard....."Working Together"...right? Look at Delta's 3rd qrt. results...vs....pilots contract and CEO pay. Tell me again why I should settle for 1 red cent less that the DAL contract? Plus due to the reaming we've taking since contract expiration......not feeling charitable in regards to retro active pay.

Too funny, it could be one of those which explains the behavior. If not, then a confused individual with no soul.

Any idea what first year pay will be? Is the $60 range still holding true in rumor-land?

We will see but that is ballpark if the rumors are true.

Quote: You know I'm at the point where I really don't care about those who want to be tired and worn out all the time by flying 100+ hours with lousy duty rigs. I simply don't do those things.

Now I see a major problem with the philosophy of these 100 hour pilots. From what I hear the senior pilots use this feature and the annual CAL voluntary reduced flying months to maximize their pay, all while the junior reserve pilots are getting abused and flown into the ground.

So is it right for a small group of pilots to be able to fly 100 hours of pay and then take the easy months off, compensating by the high time months, while a larger majority of the pilots have to be abused by the work rules (especially reserves)?
Ah, the quick answer is YES. That's what seniority is all about. Try flying at a non-union operation. Upgrades are selected by the "best" pilots which can be superceded by a drop-dead beautiful female who was hired after everyone else (actual event). Or you are passed over by another recent new-hire because he has a better "attitude". Seniority sucks when you are junior but becomes more enjoyable as you move up.
