Quote: Everybody upgrades on the Phenom first. You can bid to transition to a Challenger or Legacy, but that's where the seniority kicks in. As of now, it's about a 15-18 years to get those, but the wait will get a little shorter since we're hiring alot of pilots right now, as well as adding many new airplanes to the fleet. Large cabin international captains are all Red Label only. You interview and are selected for those positions.
15 years to get off the Phenom

It varies, many don't upgrade right away and you don't have to upgrade in five years. Alot of guys just stay as FO on the Challenger or Legacy for a long time before upgrading. As far as flying goes, the PF flies from the left seat. All pilots hold the same full PIC rating so we swap seats. Still, only the captain is acting PIC. So, to sum it up, if you don't upgrade, you can't log PIC time and you don't get the pay. Other than that, it's a great balanced crew environment.

In today's environment, why would anyone go to FlexJet? I'm perplexed. Don't people do research and look at the history of the companies to which their applying?

I know that the line pilot group at Flex Jet are probably a really great group of guys and gals .... but, if the management / money folks from the Flight Options side were on the other side of the street and on fire .... I probably wouldn't cross the street to use bodily fluids to ease their situation -- just saying!

When you speak to their pilots they say they love it there.

Interview
I just did my phone interview a few days ago, scheduled for F2F next week. Anyone else going to be there? Also, is the technical portion of the interview that's listed still just the sim? The specifically broke it down into 3 portions, HR, technical and sim. Thanks for anyone who can provide any insight.

No technical questions. Just customer service based questions and the Sim part was shoot an ILS then they do a V1 cut up to 1500 feet.

Cool thanks. I’ve never done that kind of flying before so I was wondering what technical to study. Thanks for the update.

Pbs vs 8&7

1- is there a daily rate difference between the 2?
2- for someone who is looking to work longer stretches ON followed by longer stretches OFF which is a better suited pbs or 8&7?
3- how many average days per month do you work on pbs and 8&7?

Different topic
1- if on go home day, you would prefer to airline to another city which is a base but not your assigned base is this something that could be arranged or worked out? For example, based in MIA and I would like to airline to JFK for personal off reasons then I would ensure to be ready back at MIA for the start of my next rotation.

Thanks ahead for any answers

ABOUT $32K difference. $421 a day for the PBS. 8 and 6 is about $56k last I checked. Salary is $88k on the PBS averaging 16 days a month.

PBS

Its 8 and 6. And you work a Wednesday to Wednesday run. Essentially week on week off.

PBS can be as short as 4 days and as long as 16. You bid generally a month and a half before so its not last minute when you find out your bid.

You can submit for a temp base change if you'd like. I believe you get 2 or 3 a year. Rules change.
