I'm a foreign airline pilot who will shortly be able to work in the USA. Would you guys suggest doing the ATP-CTP course asap just to be able to start applying to the majors, or should I wait a couple of months for a Delta ATP-CTP course? They're booked fully into August. Thanks for the input!

If your main/only goal is to get on with Delta, then I'd wait for the Delta course if you're going to pay for it anyway (there is no doubt your app will be considered if you do it there, not a hiring guarantee, but a look none-the-less)..... if you'd settle for any US legacy/major than I'd go wherever you can get the course complete for the most reasonable cost/timeframe.

Sorry if this has already been covered, but someone told me recently that the internal rec that triggers an app review can come from any active Delta employee - not just pilots. Is this true? And if so, is there any weight to getting it from a pilot vs. a non-pilot? I ask because I know a few flight attendants at Delta

True statement. It doesn’t matter. It has the same result. Now, the recs on your airlineapps application should be tailored towards the flying industry and you as a professional and not how well you mowed grass in the 8th grade. Don’t be afraid to have more recs. That always better than less.

Does this include internal recs from ground services employees, and/or family members? I know the app asks if any family works with Delta.....Is there more weight if that family member does a Rec?

As long as the member is a delta employee and not DGS then it’s valid. I’ll be honest, I don’t know about family but if said person is an employee I can’t see the issue. Delta dropped its nepotism policy awhile ago.

As to a family member being an employee adding more weight I’m not entirely sure so I won’t muddy the waters.

Yes I have. It’s totally fine. It won’t add any extra points, but it will trigger an app review.
