Quote: 1 washed out and went back to CZ and one was fired for being a tool.
Quote: I'd be interested in hearing about what kind of toolish behavior cost this guy his job. Hard to imagine someone being that stupid.
Quote: Not hard to imagine. Some guys are just outright drama queen tools who deserve to be fired. ALPA usually gets their job back, but some guys are beyond saving.
Quote: ...he probably had a bad attitude ...
As ever, attitude will be key. Even the automatic flows will still be on probation.
I'm sure the vast majority will fit in just fine. But any new hire from any source who absolutely insists on "distinguishing" themselves will probably not make it all the way through training, IOE and probation.
ALPA can't help much during probation and not at all during training and IOE.

Quote: I know your just kidding because by the 2nd year you would be the same as a capped out VA 320FO even if you took our piddly lil 717. By the third year you would be pushing CA pay or better on most of our airframes. You have a fun job no doubt but don't let size influence your decision
You make it sound like Delta pilot jobs are handed out. For those of us with zero contacts at Delta, I have no hope. I haven't renewed (since even before VX) when airlineapps wanted $55 for the year to renew.

You are correct on the pay, but how long will reserve be? I hear of guys on 7th year pay at ATL on the 320 who are still reserve. Ugh. I spent one month on reserve, and have been a 17-18 day off line holder since. With a baby at home, this is important. Right now I get to see my baby every day (do day trips and 2 days in base). Since his birth, I've never done a 4-day. I haven't missed out on anything. I'd rather keep what I have now and watch my kid grow than sacrifice and miss out on these important young years. I think as long as VX does okay, I'm probably staying. Next year on 3rd year pay, I'll be close to 100k with what I like to credit every month so it isn't too bad. Baby is priority #1 though.

I may be on rsv 6 years in on fifi, but I'm on pace to clear 140k, too... flying around 40-50 hours a month, mostly day trips and 2 days (i.e. home almost every night). I've seen every major milestone of my son so far and that will likely continue.

The only reason my seniority is where it is is because of being in ATL. In other bases I'd be a mid seniority lineholder. There hasn't been any progression either due to age 65, merger synergies, and workrules concessions on C2012. That's about to change and those hired this round will see progression unlike what anyone has seen for decades.

I hope so too. You know what they say about that upcoming progression that hasn't been seen since [insert decade here]. I've flown with too many 737 CAs ex-Aloha to L1011 guys ex-ATA who said they had been told a pilot shortage was coming and yet never came for 25-30+ years that they've been flying. It's always been cyclical. I'm just hoping for the best.

Quote: There around 20 pre merger NW guys who have another chance. But or a majority of the guys, this is the last chance.
why do you say this. I was waiting on a june 2008 class that was cxl at NW, got the offers good for 1 yr then a yr later told to apply at Delta. Never even got a phone call the last round so not expecting anything this time. Im hopeful but....you never know, I may not be what they are looking for

34yrs old 10000total 2000pic a check airman no 121 failures ever, lots of internal recs, but you still have to get lucky!!!

He's talking about guys on furlough bypass. For most, this round is their last chance to come back. For a handful at nw furloughed a second time, they have a couple more years before they have to come back or resign.

Best of luck to you. Make sure the grammar and proof reading is impeccable on your application. That's a quick way to get sorted out if the stack.
